Rating: Summary: What Activation Issues? Review: What Activation issues? I haven't had a single problem this year or any year and I've been using TurboTax forever! I even called tech support with a question about C-Dilla--they were helpful and capable. Stop picking on Intuit. There is no better tax program out there.
Rating: Summary: Are you joking?? Review: There is no comparison between TurboTax and TaxCut. How can anyone say TaxCut is better??? TurboTax if far superior. If you want to save time and money the only way to go is Turbotax.
Rating: Summary: My Taxes Are Done Review: Thanks to Intuit and it's quick and easy to use product, I am done my taxes with minimal effort. I had no problems installing it or using it on multiple machines. It's as user friendly as ever. I don't understand what everyone is complaining about.
Rating: Summary: Thumbs Up Review: It's as easy as ever to use and install. Stop complaining--so you can't share it with all your friends--big deal. The time it takes to complain about it is the time it takes to finish your taxes!!!
Rating: Summary: How can I trust any of you? Review: How do I know that all of the listed reviews were not staged by TaxCut 2002? We've had great success for 8 years with TurboTax, but all of the reviews I've been reading here are so negative and even a bit scary! Then, I realize that maybe all of these are "plants" by the competition, and that I shouldn't be leary of going ahead with my TT purchase!
Rating: Summary: Thumbs Down on TT2002 Changes Review: I have purchased and used Turbo Tax DeLux since the software became available. Never had any problems until this year. I purchased it online last December. The new activation process is not designed with the customer in mind. The only time I got into the program was when I initally installed it and paid for it with my credit card. Even though I was given the correct key number and order number on 3 occasions by 3 different TT reps., I can no longer use it. The online help is a joke (long and tedious to get help), especially in light of the software program changes for 2002. Intuit and their software developers did not think of the consumers on this one. Too bad a great program was brought down to a less-than-adequate level.
Rating: Summary: Switching to TaxCut - note correction Review: If you ...read the FAQ on the product activation, it makes clear that you can't do exactly what most people do -- prepare their tax return on one computer, perhaps a laptop, and then install the program briefly on a computer with a good printer solely for filing purposes. Often, the second computer is one on which you either cannot or are totally unwilling to leave your information for any extended period. The first computer is the workhorse; the second critical only for printing. Turbotax's new activation feature makes this more or less impossible. The precise language is: "If you install TurboTax on another computer without activating it, you can view or make changes to your tax return - but you will not be able to print from within the program, electronically file, or save your tax file as a .pdf file from that computer. However, you can transfer the .tax file to an activated computer for printing and/or electronic filing." This extract directly from Turbotax's own website states clearly that you CANNOT print the return from any computer but the first one on which you activate the program without buying an additional copy of the program. This is simply unacceptable to me. CORRECTION: You can use the activated first computer to prepare a PDF file that can be printed on the second computer. However, I have never yet put my information on the second computer without needing to make some final tweak. In that case, I would have to go back to the first computer to make the changes there and to get a new PDF before proceeding. Equally unacceptable to the situation I first described. Turbotax and TaxCut have been getting comparable reviews for years. Only inertia and the convenience of uploading the prior year's info kept me wed to Turbotax. This new system makes Turbotax unuseable. Hello TaxCut!
Rating: Summary: This product should be rated NO STARS Review: Below the email I sent to Intuit. ANd guess what I got for it.? A canned response. This is fit for nothing but the dumpster. This product is nothing but trouble. I have used Turbotax for more than 7 years, but I threw this years product in the rubbish. If you have installed TTax 2002, but can't get rid of Cdilla, try running this: Uninstall Turbotax Run this at the command line: CDAC13BA.exe /uninstall Then, reboot Search your drives for anything beginning CDAC, delete it Search your registry for "Safecast". Delete all keys Reboot. Pour a sherry, buy Taxcut, and relax. ------------------------------------------------ [email]
Rating: Summary: Please people... Review: Initially I too was concerned after reading about the "Spyware" statements. However, if you perform a very minimal level of due diligence and review the FAQ's on the turbotax support website, all of the concerns discussed here are addressed there. They are not using spyware to generate random numbers. Sheesh. Just because you read something on the internet does not mean it is true. As far as the tax calculations, I would trust no other.
Rating: Summary: What's the big fuss? Review: I've used Turbotax for many years without any problems. In fact, I can't see doing my taxes without Turbotax. I saw these reviews and can't see what the big problem is. I had no trouble installing to my home pc and then to one at the office. So what if I can only print from one machine? If I need to print from another machine, I simply save my return in PDF from within Turbotax and take the PDF to the other machine for printing. Hey, I'm in the software business and I can understand the need for activation. It takes only one dishonest person today to make software available to millions of people via schemes ....
