Summary: Disappointed
Review: 1. The manual is a shill for spending more money on web services you don't need. It is among the most vague things I've ever tried to use.

2. There are obvious glitches in the file management tools. This frightens me -- this is my livelihood, after all, and not some game. The IRS will not let me blame Quicken if I make a major mistake.

3. Very disappointing, grinding experience on the learning curve. Extremely un-inutive, Intuit.

Summary: Intuit does not stand behind its product anymore
Review: Having been a Quicken user for many years I upgraded to Quicken 2001 for the internet downloading features. Be very careful if you do this! Although the regular banking seems OK, the investment price history updating puts in the WRONG NUMBERS. Mine even added security prices for the year 2003! All the software support options are charged for at ~$10/query.

Intuit has hit on a good way of making money: write a sloppy product, don't test it and charge your customers for finding the problems. Oh, and make yourselves very difficult to contact.

Check out the forums on the Quicken web site to get a flavour for what to expect if you are seriously considering a purchase.

Summary: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
Review: I am incredibly disappointed with Quicken. I am a first time quicken user and was expecting far more from this software. In fact, it seems to me to be the poorest software i have ever seen. When you open the box, there is no instruction manual. The program is slow and crashes continually. The screen and options are redundant and set up in no logical way, giving you the feeling, as you are fooling around, hitting every button (because there is no instruction manual so you are on your own), that there are about 50,000 things quicken can do for you, where really there are only about 8. Preferences and customize options are annoying, and for anyone adept at computers, this program will drive you nuts because it is so rigid -- there are so few options for REALLY customizing quicken to satisfy your needs -- and my needs are the most basic -- i am still a student!!!!!!!!! I wish i had never bought quicken and just set up a spreadsheet on excel for my finances. you can do more on excel than you can do on quicken, and make all the same charts, and do what you want without waiting 8 years for the program to respond every time you push a button and without having to go through a rigamarole to set up loan accounts. use your time learning how to use excel's beginner and advanced features, NOT quicken's useless ones!!!

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I have been using Quicken products for around 5 years I am get more and more disappointed with the later versions. This product seems to have a lot of bugs:

1, I could not successfully import some business records from another version of quicken 2, If another window partially covers quicken then you cannot get to quicken by clicking on it (you have to minimise the other window) - STRANGE 3, It has a lot of annoying adverts which I find offensive considering the fact that I paid $ for this product. 4, There is horrendous support for this product. The booklet tells you that you will be billed $ per minute for support calls)

I have spent the last 4 hours trying to get my records updated.

If you are a new user then things may work out fine (the user interface is generally good). If you are using home, business and a lot of investing then this product still leaves a lot to be desired. I was trying to work out how to set up a client but that does not seem to be mentioned.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I have used quicen deluxe and Quick books products since 95 and have loved them. I made the horible mistake of upgrading to Home and Business. After a week I have not had any success integrating my online bank accounts or brokerage accounts. Intuit has cluttered the interface with pay for services that you do not need. This software seems to be driven from the marketing department and not the engineering department. I am dissatisfied.

Summary: Quicken does it again!
Review: I started out with Quickbooks Pro and I am constantly amazed at Intuit, I just keep moving up with their software, doing things that with any other program I never would have understood. This program is very user friendly and easy to work with. I am buying another for one of my employees who worked with it at our office and couldn't believe how simple it was. Neither one of us had any accounting experience but because Quickbooks is designed in easy to understand profiles everyone can us it.

As I said Quicken has done it again.

Summary: Beats Money 2001 Deluxe, hands down
Review: I switched to Quicken 2001 Home and Business after wrestling with MS Money 2001 Deluxe for a week (the first MS software I've really disliked, excluding Win95/98). Quicken is working great for me. I find the navigation much more intuitive than Money. I do think that Money had a better budget planner, but I wouldn't give up the ease of Quicken just for that.

Review: I used the product for years, than made the mistake of upgrading to a newer version. I guess in their desire to rush something new to the market it had bugs in it. The customer support is the worst I have ever experienced bar none. There is absolutly no one to call unless you want to pay per minute charge or chat on the internet. After two hours of holding on the chat service I got dumped by a busy server. The telephone people will not discuss anything without a credit card number. They should sell a service policy if they don't want to offer customer service. What a gross experience.

Summary: Good Software but beware if you use Pocket Quicken
Review: I was upgrading from and older version of Quicken and I found this to have more ways to view your finances. I just use this for my basic accounts and it is very good in keeping me organized. I don't think that they have made any upgrades that I think are useful for the average person.

I gave this software three stars because of the problem with synchronizing my pocket quicken. If do some research on landware.com you will see that the 2001 version uses a different method to read new transactions. It tries to match the transaction to an old one. If you don't recognize that it doesn't say "new" then the transaction will not be entered. You have to be very carefull when you accept data to your home computer.

Overall it is good software but I would rather use the older software for the pocket quicken.
