Installation was swift and trouble-free. We had Employee Appraiser up and running within 10 minutes. It essentially installs itself and opens up to a Quick Start menu, enabling first-time users to choose from help options or to delve immediately into work windows. Although the software comes with a virtual tutor, the program seemed intuitive enough to allow a first-time user to jump right in and learn by trial and error. Two of the software's most valuable features include the employee files and the coaching advisor. Employee files allow a supervisor to maintain a chronological record of both positive and negative observations, and then to incorporate those notes into a comprehensive assessment backed up by in-depth coaching, objective setting, and reinforcement. The coaching advisor contains suggestions for employee development based on 45 different areas of performance rating. Examples include account management, adaptability/flexibility, customer service, interpersonal skills, job knowledge, and more. The wide variety of performance topics helps to generate a thorough and conscientious analysis of a human being and keeps managers from worrying about trying to fit all of their employees into one restrictive mold. Contrary to its name, Employee Appraiser is more of a managing tool than a shortcut to employee performance reviews. If you're a manager who's panicking about next month's annual reviews, this is not the program for you.
