Rating: Summary: Not reliable Review: Don't buy any flash drive from this VisionTek. It failed within a year. I lost some critical data. The sad part is that I need to submit a $10 money order along with the defective drive in order to get a replacement. That means I need to take out $15 to get a replacement for VisionTek 64mb flash drive. I can buy a BRAND NEW one for that price. VisionTek is such a small company, they cannot even afford the return postage. Shame for them.
Rating: Summary: Very good product Review: Easy to use, very good speed, easy to carry and not very expensive. It works with windows 98.
Rating: Summary: The modern floppy disk Review: I bought this drive as my laptop doesn't have a Floppy drive as well as for the convenience of USB plug-and-play capability. The device worked fine although I found the documentation to be totally absent (except for a few basic instructions on the package). Admitedly this should be the case with a plug-play device. However, as this is a USB 2.0 device and most USB ports (including mine) are at present USB 1.1, it would have helped to know what to do when the device is plugged in and the OS (Win XP) gives the following message: "A high speed controller must be installed...."! Still, the device worked fine and is really convenient. I found the quality of construction to be a bit sloppy ... it's plastic and I wasn't impressed by the finish on the product. That and the lack of documentation = 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: The USB drive is good, problem is $25 rebate Review: I brought this USB drive (my first one) in August mainly because it is inexpensive after rebate. The drive itself is pretty good, but the my problem is the $25 rebate. First, I never found my rebate info on wheresmyrebate.com. Second, I called wwwsmyrebate.com (1800-390-2344) in late Oct and was told that my rebate was going to be maild on Nov 19, 2003. You know what happened. I called again today and waited for 15 min. I was told this time that the rebate will be mailed on Dec 17, 2003. Looks like it will be my Xmas gift! The lady on the other side told me that manufacturer delayed rebate processing. I will buy a bigger one (at least 256 MB) later on, but definitely not from VisionTek.
Rating: Summary: Great little drive Review: Installs on its own and works on virtually every machine I have plugged it into. Makes trasferring files at work a breeze without having to waste blank cds...
Rating: Summary: Decent product - but still no rebate check Review: It's been 12 weeks and still no rebate check from Visiontek or Amazon. According to the rebate form, the checks were supposed to be mailed in 6 to 8 weeks. The wheresmyrebate.com web site keeps spitting out the same error every time: Your session has terminated or an error has occured. Please click the following button to start again.
Rating: Summary: Good product...invisible rebate... Review: Like many others who bought this product...I find myself wondering where my promised rebate check is. I checked the mail box daily for three months...I even checked my dryer(maybe it's hiding with my missing socks) Still, I am left with a pocket full of empty promises! I do like the product, but...well..I am very dissapointed with Vision Tek and Amazon for their dishonesty.
Rating: Summary: Definite upgrade from a Floppy Drive! Review: Need a "little" more storage then a floppy drive with far more portability? Look no where else but a USB Flash Drive. This 64MB comes with 62MB available space. The package also includes a USB cable to connect to computers that have USB Ports in the back of the computer, or are hard to access otherwise. Simply plug it in and it'll auto-detect (2000 & XP) and show a new removeable hard drive available. The two downfalls I see are no write protect solution and no keychain/ring that comes with it to attach to a keychain. Otherwise, I recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware: VisionTek and Amazon.com Review: OK so the product is not bad, but when you purchase it under the pretense of receiving a $25.00 rebate, then have to fight both VisionTek and Amazon.com it makes it a negative experience. I bought this when I was in Iraq serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom and had it shipped by a relative to me. When I got home I wanted the rebate...and the trouble began. The still-not-gotten rebate is NOT worth the trouble. I would have purchased another larger capacity item if not for the low price after rebate.
Rating: Summary: very usefull Review: This is basically a smaller version of a cd or a floppy disk. This is great if you own a laptop which doens't have a cd or floppy drive. It is also use-full if you have a home and work computer becuase you can transfer things from computer to computer easily and safely. The only Set Back is that a cd can hold about 5 times as much as this one, but you can always buy a usb drive with more space
