Summary: Economical, no-frills choice
Review: The Lexar JumpDrive 128 is a fair, economical, choice for a no-frills USB 1.1 memory drive. The only feature the JumpDrive has a DIP switch that allows users to the drive read-only. The downside of the drive is its cheap construction - the plastic clip on the JumpDrive's cap can easily break off, and the plastic key-chain loop is too fragile for metal key rings. On the other hand, my JumpDrive did survive a trip through the washing machine.

Summary: Misleading Specifications
Review: The product claims it has a 128 mb of on-board storage. This is a crock. Lexar, you need to realize that a megabyte is 1,048,576 bytes, not 1,000,000 bytes. The real number of megabytes on this device is a 122 megabytes. The real number of bytes should be >= 134,217,728, not 128,000,000. I want my six extra megabytes and if they continue to lie to customers about the actual storage of their product, I will not buy another product from them.

Besides that, it is a nice product. Very convenient to store data.

Summary: Practical and useful but poorly made
Review: I bought this product about three months ago and it has worked well. My two complaints would be on how it is made. I attached it to my key-ring and the little plastic piece attaching the it to my keys broke. I have lost the cap as well. If you check the manufacturers website you will see they sell the caps in a group of five knowing many people will lose them. The plastic they use is not durable enough for someone keeping this in their pocket attached to keys with loose change smacking up against it. Perhaps if someone keeps it in a separate area such as a briefcase or bookbag it would last longer. I use mine all the time and like I said it works and for the price it is a good deal but you really need to take care of where you put it.

Summary: Loose cap
Review: After reading some of the reviews, it appears that the two major complaints are with obtaining the rebates and the loose cap. I can't help you with the rebates. (Personally, I always consider the price of a product to be the before-rebate cost when deciding whether or not to buy something and the rebate to be a plesent surprise if it comes.) However there is a solution to the loose cap issue.
1. Cut 2 square pieces of scotch tape 1 cm x 1cm
2. Roll 1 piece into a half-circle with the sticky side out and slide it into 1 side of the inside of the cap.
3. Press it into the side with a key so that the tape is firmly sealed to the side.
4. Repeat for the other side.

This procedure makes the cap stay on more firmly and possible makes it more watertight.

Summary: An excellent jump drive, but limited by what it is.
Review: This JumpDrive is an excellent device, but it's limited by being a USB 1.x device.

SPEED:

Slow. It takes me about 2 minutes and 20 seconds to move 100MB of small files to the drive. But, it's a USB 1.X device, so this is to be expected. If this speed is not acceptable, then there is a USB 2.0 version of the device that should be more satisfactory.

DESIGN:

Overall, it's a very nice little gadget. The case is translucent so you can see the chip that all of your documents are being stored on and it fits nicely in your hand. The key ring is on the body and not the cap of the device (the cap being just a slide on protector), which makes it easy to carry around. In addition there is a write-protect switch on the side of the device, and there is a green "busy" light that flashes when information is being accessed or written to the device.

There's not much to say about it other than that. It detected and ran instantly when plugged into a windows XP machine and Win98SE was an easy install after you get the driver from the Lexar website.

Summary: Awesome Product!
Review: What attracted me to the product was the rebate and it was on sale. The flash drive has a 128MB capacity. I can store basically anything, from personal files to video clips. The transfer rate is not bad at all. Also, the drive that I purchased included SafeGuard, a secure application where you can split the drive into 2 sectors - private and public. For example, you can set the drive 30% public & 70% private. Anything you store in the private sector cannot be access without a personalized password. Therefore, if you lost your drive, there is no way anyone can access your private files.

Physically, the drive is tiny. About 2.5'' by 1''. There is a loop at the end of the drive so you can attach it to a chain or keys. I use mine as a keychain and it doesn't get in the way of the UBS port or while it is dangling while I'm driving. The drive is very light in weight. I dropped it so many times and it is still intacted. The cap is a little flimsy and loose, but it has not never come off unexpected thus far.

I highly recommend this product. No more floppy discs or CDs. Saving files has never been so easy, simple, and quick.

Summary: Too slow
Review: This thing works well for transferring documents, but has two major flaws:

- Too slow. (Takes about 20 seconds to write one MP3 file.

- Too wide. This cannot plug into the back of a desktop computer, if the serial port is in use, as it is so wide that there is not enough room. Also it cannot plug the whole way into my laptop because it is so wide that it touches the table when plugged in.

Summary: Affordble and reliable performer
Review: This model has competitive pricing and good performance, with a novel key chain feature which is easy to carry around. However there are two small disadvantages: First, the cap would become loose after a while, and mine is already lost. Second, the coke bottle-shaped case might get in your way if your USB port is hindered by other cables and/or structure, especially at the back panel of a notebook computer. Other then those two this JumpDrive works very well with all computers I have encountered.

Summary: Works Great!!!
Review: Between our Win 2000 and Win Me, transfered files with no problem. Considering it for work to transfer files from my iMac to my PC without cumbersome software.

Such a simple little thing is going to make my job SOOO much easier!

Summary: Rebate denied
Review: Same thing happened with me as other customers. I was denied the rebate because of UPC code not sent but I am sure that I sent it !! Otherwise no problems with the product as yet.
