Rating: Summary: Buy this thing Review: I use a PC at work and a Mac at home. This device allowed me to move files easily between home and work. Its portable and easy to use, no software to install, just plug it in and proceed to move files.
Rating: Summary: Amazing convenience in: Linux, Windows, Mac, whatever! Review: I bought the Lexar Media 256 MB JumpDrive because I needed something that was quick and held more data than a floppy. The JumpDrive is perfect. It is compatible with PCs and Macs (as long as you plug it into a USB port with enough power) and needs no drivers (Win98 the exception). Linux (kernel 2.4 or greater) with the correct usb modules also automatically recognizes and mounts this flash drive. It is also very fast. My computer is not new enough to have the high speed USB 2.0 that would get full speed out of this drive, but even with the older USB I was able to get about 12 MB/s. I highly recommend this specific flash drive. I bought it because it has been highly reviewed everywhere I read. Amazon.com with its free shipping offered the best deal. Cheaper (by about $20) USB flash drives can be found, but they can only use the slower USB 1.1 transfer speed. I'd recommend buying this latest USB 2.0 drive, which is still backwards compatible with the old standard.
Rating: Summary: Simply Amazing Review: This is a cool little piece of technology. Being able to move whole programs from one place to another without carrying multiple disks or worrying about disk space. Works well on Windows 98, 2000, and XP. It's GREAT!
Rating: Summary: Mac issues 5 months into usage Review: It's been a workdog for me for 5 months, and worked great. Then one fine day decided to stop working on Mac systems. Definitely would think twice next time about buying similar products.
Rating: Summary: Everybody in tech should have a jumpdrive Review: I work in a wireless network and DSL test lab and this thing is used on a daily basis by me and my co-workers (who need to get their own!). I had a memorex thumbdrive, but was severly disappointed by it's behavior, and when it broke i bought this 256mb jumpdrive which has faithfully done everything i expected it to do without any problems at all. I use this to take files between many different computers running windows, mac os x and mac os 9 and have no problems with any of them recognizing this device, or copying files at good data rates. I highly recommend this to anybody who needs something to quickly move data from one pc to another without a network.
Rating: Summary: Easy, for rugged use and reliable Review: Hi, I purchased this drive and am very happy about it. I once forgot to remove it from my pant pocket. It got washed in the washing machine. Still it came out in tact. No problems whatsoever. Great value, Great performace, Go for it!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Product Review: I keep this around my neck - it goes from home to work to school with me and I keep a ton of stuff on it. Well worth the price, I highly recommend this product to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Works for Mac and PC! Review: I've used this device for about 6 months now and I love it! I use both Macs and PCs, and the JumpDrive allows me to transfer files between them without a hitch; there were no drivers to download, just plug and use. As others have said here, it is much faster than a Zip drive and, for me, much more convenient to use. I don't really use my Zip any more. I know someone reviewed that there is a problem of compatibility with Macs, but I personally didn't encounter any. It works fine with my Mac desktop and laptop. That said, it is important to note that I use System X (Panther 10.3) on my Mac and Windows 2000 on my PC. I purchased a flash drive (NOT the Lexar JumpDrive) for someone else who was on System 9, and even though he downloaded the driver, it did not work. However, it was not a JumpDrive and, more importantly, it was an OLDER Mac system. So perhaps this is what one reviewer meant by saying that the drive is incompatible with Mac--you should use System X. Along the same lines, I have used this drive with Windows 98 and, though I downloaded the drivers it did not work (but it could've just been me). Once I switched to Windows 2000, the drive worked fine. I highly recommend this drive! The price really cannot be beat, and if you are using it to transfer data between a Mac and PC it works wonderfully. Just be sure to put it on a keychain or lanyard--it's so small it's easy to misplace!
Rating: Summary: The next level of Sneakernet Review: I have owned this device now for >10 months; it has saved me from wasting countless CDRs and using it is much faster and easier than using CDRW. The way it installs its drivers onto any computer it is plugged into is amazing. Minor (so far) complaint - the connection now seems to be a little touchy; it has to be wiggled to get it to 'kick in'.
Rating: Summary: The greatest invention - EVER! Review: A student of mine had a jump drive that he brought to class, so I decided to buy this one for myself. I transport a lot of files between my office and home computers, and it works like a champ every time. It's fast, dependable, and holds lots of stuff. As soon as my wife saw mine, she wanted one for herself, so I had to get another one!
