Rating: Summary: Lexar was AWFUL! Review: This drive broke after 2 weeks. It took me forever to talk to someone on the phone, then I had to send the drive off to be repaired. I stressed that I needed the data retrieved off it, which they promised to do. A week later it came back still broken, with no data, and with no explanation. Terrible prodect, terribe service!
Rating: Summary: Stupid Cap Review: I like everything about the product except for the *stupid* case design. In particular the little cap that protects the USB plug is deisgned as a "pocket clip" and detaches from the device completely. The clip design makes it snag on things in your pocket and it is constantly trying to escape. After several months of careful management, and repeated retreival it finally succeded in it's bid for freedom.-- The thing should have been leashed to the main case body. -- There is no sign of a way to order a replacement cap. It's a tiny piece of human engeneering but it should have been done. If you plan to attach this device to your key-ring, I suggest you pass a loop of something durable and, if possible, stretchy through both the heel of the main case and then through the (not shown above) hole where the tab is pressed out of the pocket clip. (you'll know it when you see it.) Menawhile, the Lexar could stand to offer/sell replacement caps on a web-site somewhere.
Rating: Summary: Died after 7 weeks use. Review: I purchased one as a Christmas gift. Now on Feb 8th it's died. It worked for a total of 6 weeks. If I'd have kept all the packaging etc, I'd send it back, but of course I didn't. I won't buy this brand again.
Rating: Summary: Works fine, but only for a little while Review: I, along with three other people I know, bought this drive a few months ago when it was on sale at a local store. None of the four drives have lasted more than 4 months (mine was the last to die, yesterday). I would recommend you stay away from Lexar flash drives--there's a reason why they are comparitively inexpensive.
Rating: Summary: Great product and service Review: Purchased one in 03. Used heavily, performed flawlessly. Treated it to a New Hampshire winter, and it finally failed. Mailed it in and they replaced it. Wonderful. Buy it. Love it. And good service.
Rating: Summary: Stellar Product! Review: If only these things were invented sooner! NO REGRETS!
Rating: Summary: Fast, reliable, ultra portable, and easy... Review: I've never written a review, although I very much rely on Amazon reviews for purchasing decisions. Now it's time I finally contribute. After using this product for over a week now, I'm exceedingly impressed by how fast and portable it is. I wear it as a key chain and use it mostly at work, since I have a laptop hooked to my work computer via a KVM switch and the drive is the only way I transfer data back and forth (laptop is offline). Incidentally, I'm not sure what the previous reviewer meant by formatting the drive using NTFS. The only formatting options I get are FAT and FAT32. Nonetheless, this baby is fast!
Rating: Summary: usb2.0 means not working on old MACs Review: I bought it in need of tranfering some files between my PC and the MAC in the lab, the MACs are old apple running OS9.x, and lexar 2.0 will not work on them because of low power supply, although the purple lexar 128M USB 1.1 works just fine. I am so sad that they don't sell the old purple any more, it was so pretty and useful...
Rating: Summary: Most useful hardware I have bought in years Review: I tossed out my zip drive after I started using a jump drive. The convenience is incomparable. I keep mine on my key-ring so it is handy and use it many times a day. It has gone through the wash-machine and come out OK. Only thing I would like is a password-protected encryption driver becasue I worry about losing it.
Rating: Summary: Works great, with two small caveats Review: This Lexar has quickly changed the way I work: I now keep nearly all my files on this drive and use it on three computers-- a WIn XP (USB 1.1), Win 2000 (USB 1.1), and Mac PowerBook (USB 2.0.) It works flawlessly on all of them, and never causes any problems. The two small caveats are these: I can't find any easy way to add a password to the disk, which leaves me a bit uncomfortable-- I've already misplaced the drive a few times. I've found it every time, but still.... And on a Mac PowerBook, the shape of the drive means you cannot plug in another USB device (like a mouse) and use the drive. The ports are quite close togther, and the drive's slightly bulbous shape means there's no room for two devices side-by-side. Some other drives have a bit less of a bulge in the middle. In all, it's a great, inexpensive little product that does exactly what it says it does.
