Rating: Summary: Still working well Review: I bought this about 6 months ago. So far so good. It has worked on every computer I have plugged it into and has not failed me yet. It is small and easy to misplace. I have lost it 3 times in my house. If it had a built in password protection I would have given it 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Jump drive rocks Review: Light, easy, no fuss, no muss. Great way to store and transport all your info.
Rating: Summary: Try Another Brand Review: Bought in Sept 2003. Died in March 2004. Plug it in and get the "drive not formatted" error. Tried in vain to reformat. Contacted the fabulous Lexar support desk via email 16 April and after 4 weeks, NO CONTACT. I won't be buying from Lexar again.
Rating: Summary: Love it- except I already lost the cap! Review: I keep this on my key chain and have had it for about 3 months or so now. I am very happy with the data transfer rate and the ease of retreival. It is larger than others but I haven't really seen that to be a problem. I worried from the start that I would lose the cap, and wouldn't you know it, when I picked the keys out of my purse the other day, the cap was missing. I dumped everything out and searched everywhere but at one point it just popped off. Of course, the jumpdrive still works without the cap but they should have thought of a better way to manage that problem, so now I am looking into a way to get a replacement to protect the drive, but I will probably lose that one as well. Overall a great buy although I did find it cheaper at thenerds.net I have used on XP and 2000- and work in a Technology Services environment so I have put it to the test. I store 4 different websites on there as well as other data that is "in progress" or just good to have handy. Well worth the investment.
Rating: Summary: Does just what its supposed to Review: After reading the reviews on Amazon.com i decided to pick up this USB memory key instead of several others avavilalbe. Most all of the USB keys have reports to varying degrees of speed/durability/compatibility issues, but the Lexar version seems to have the least of those. After receiving my JumpDrive, i can safely say that I have nothing to worry about. The construction is more than acceptable even if you are going to leave it in a pocket with keys, or flopping around in a bag. It is very light, but unless you are going to stomp on it, it should last for a long time. I haven't sat down and timed the performance like some other reviewers, but it has been plenty fast with a mixed assortment of graphic, text, and even music files. i normally move about 50-100MB at a time when i transfer files from my office computer to my home and vice-versa. It takes a little longer than if I were copying files from one folder on my hard drive to another. The only time i have noticed the speed issue is when i hook it up to the USB1.1 hub attached to one of my computers. And even then it is still fast enough. USB2.0 is REALLY fast. I have used the JumpDrive so far on XP Home, XP Pro, Win2k Server, and Win2k Pro and all seem to work fine. They are automatcially recognized and it just takes a few moments the first time to install the drivers (windows does automatically), afterwards you use just like you would a floppy or ZIP disk. My only gripe is that when you take the cap off, there is no where to hook it onto or into. So it just lays on the desk....
Rating: Summary: Blocks space of 2 ports Review: It works, but too bulky. When I used it in my ThinkPad A31, I was not able to use the second USB port
Rating: Summary: Great & Easy Review: It is Great and easy way to transfer data.... plug-in & play with win XP and win2000. it is great to add it to your key chain.
Rating: Summary: Lexar 256MB and Sandisk 128MB comparison Review: I bought the Sandisk 128MB mini cruzer last month I have been satified with it since then. I got the Lexar 256MB on sale at amazon so I decided to buy it and sell my sandisk. Bulky The first thing I noticed is that the Lexar is alot more bulky(its thicker and wider) than the Sandisk and when I have both drives in the usb ports, the Lexar pushes on the other drive. Tiny Light The Sandisks has a large, bright, green light that is always on(so it looks cool all the time ;) )and blinks during data transfer. The Lexar however, has a tiny green light that is barely visible from the sides and it only lights during data transfer. No Cover holder The Sandisk allows you to snap the cover on to the rear after you plug it in so you don't lose it and the cover makes the already big light look even bigger. The Lexar has nothing to keep the cover while in use. Slower I did an experiment by copying the same 27MB file to both drives multiple times, separately and timed it with a stop watch. The Lexar drive was consistently slower by 1.5 seconds. Now I'm not sure if it is slow because it has more memory to address than the 128MB Sandisk but the fact is, it is slower. Has key ring connection The one thing that the Lexar has better is the key ring connection. I wish I could have gotten the Sandisk 256MB for the $45 that I got the Lexar for. I think the Lexar was still a good deal even though it could have been better.
Rating: Summary: Lexar Jump Drive Problems Review: I bought one of the 256 mg drives only three months ago and already it has broken. It cannot be read by either a PC or on a MAC. I asked the company for a replacement but they want the original drive back (with all my personal information on it) before they will replace it. THIS IS A PROBLEM. Who wants to send their personal data to a bunch of strangers? I bought this to use as a backup to my other drives, and to transport information. If I have to back up my back up then that is not gonna work. I would recommend avoiding this company's products and go with one of the other brands, like the intelligent stick. All they had to do was replace my device and I would have then destroyed the origingal (which doesn't work) and returned it to them. They will not allow that so...I'm not buying another one from them. MS
Rating: Summary: Durable! Review: I don't usually take the time to review products I've purchased from Amazon.com, but this one in particular has earned my respect. I purchased the Lexar Media 256 MB JumpDrive for my husband about two months ago and he hasn't stopped praising it--works great on both home and work computers with absolutely no problems. What impressed me, however, was what he confessed to me about a week ago. Seems he accidentally left it in his pants pocket the first week he had it and it went through both the wash and the dryer (perma pressed cycle, of course)before he sheepishly retrieved it without telling me what he'd done. He was sure it would be a total loss, but two months later it is still working beautifully! The laundering didn't even corrupt any of the data he had saved to it! Now he wants another one just like it only bigger.
