Rating: Summary: NO 8-CHARACTER LIMIT ON FILENAME LENGTH! Review: I was shocked to read the review by "doctormoon". I bought the lexar media 1 GB jumpdrive 2.0 pro off a different internet site several months ago, and I have had no problems at all with filename length. out of curiosity, i just renamed a large jpeg file with a 50-character name, and my jumpdrive stored the file no problem. i'm running windows 2000. the model number on my jumpdrive is JD1GB-40-500 B. it has been working perfectly and is very fast, i'd definitely buy one again. hope this helps your buying decision; i just hated to see such a negative [and seemingly incorrect] review for an awesome product.
Rating: Summary: Great external storage device Review: I've used several external storage devices for backing up my projects and carting them back and forth between work and home and the Lexar JuimpDrives are by far and away the best I've used. I own both the 256 meg and the 1 gig versions and use them heavily (dozens of times a day). I've never had a lick of trouble with either one. They're tough, they're fast and on a modern OS (I use XP, 2000/2003 server and Fedora from Redhat) they work fabulously.I have no idea what Doctor Moon is talking about - he's clearly confused or lying. I backup web page projects that have some of the longest file names you'll see (100 characters and up) and don't have a problem (where as CD burners will - thus I back up all my web projects to JumpDrives). One tip: if you're using these exclusively on systems with NTFS (2000/2003/XP) be sure to format it as NTFS before using - it makes a big performance difference.

Rating: Summary: DoctorMoon is a cheapskate Review: The reason he can't use file names longer than 8 characters is because he's too cheap to upgrade to a 32 bit operating system. He must still be stuck in DOS 6.2 or Windows 3.11 (or lower). These things are awsome! They work flawlessly with Windows 2000, XP and Max OS X. They're pretty good with Windows 98, after you load the drivers. This is the best portable media that exists, bar none. The prices for the 1Gig unit is a little pricey, but how else can you carry around mor than a CD's worth of data in your watch pocket? The 512M and 256M models are the best deal around. Wonderful gifts for your favorite college student.
