Rating: Summary: Didn't Last Long.... Review: I bought the Lexar Media 128MB flash drive. It was the first one that I had bought. It was really great at first; no more floppy drives, convienient storage (my keychain). I babied it pretty well, but after a month-and-a-half it died on me. I always removed it from my system properly. Im very wary of flash drives at this point... I'm going to try another brand and buy one. If my next one fails I guess I'll have to stick to my floppy drive...
Rating: Summary: Not working / No support Review: I bought this item late January. Less than two months and it is dead. I have Windows 2000 and XP and after working good without any problems now it is not recognized by the either operating system. All the other devices work fine on the USB port. In the device manager I just get the yellow question mark with UNKNOWN DEVICE. Lexar Live support and tech support have not helped at all. I still have not got a reply from them. Now I cannot access some of my important information. Good idea - back-up your media often if you own a USB drive. I thought the idea was to reduce the workload and need to use your memory on your p/c by having these drives but I have found that is not the case. Very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Perfect solution to my needs - works great! Review: I had read the other reviews on this product before I purchased it. While I suspect there may be some issues if you are running Windows ME, I can tell you this thing works PERFECTLY on Windows 2000! I have many computers running Windows 2000 and I've installed the security software (for the partition you choose to lock down) on all - NO PROBLEMS.I LOVE THIS PRODUCT as it really solves my needs to work on even very large files at multiple computers without running into a 'versioning' problem. The copy I have on the JumpDrive is always the latest version! (I leave the 'old' copies on those computers as backups.) What's more, I can always keep my private stuff private - I never need to worry about losing it or leaving it plugged in and walking away. Since you can choose the size of the secure partition (and can resize any time...after first backing up your stuff), there is no "wasted" space. The cap really does stay on well and the case is pretty durable. The only change I would make there (and have) is to add a regular keychain ring (empty-no keys) to the post provided. When I do this, I can loop the thing over my finger for carrying in-hand and it acts as a convenient tugging point when pulling it out from the USB port. Finally, I would reccomend buying a short (only needs to be like 10") USB extension cable if you are using laptops - sometimes the case design makes for a bad fit trying to plug this in. With the extension, it's like having a special docking station for your drive, anyway. Thank you Lexar! I love this well-designed product! I will be recommending this to many others and I will likely be buying others in the future.
Rating: Summary: HOLY $#%@! Review: I have this item in the 256mb model and yes, its 'plug-n-play' feature is way cool. What I really wanted to say is that I accidentally put it through the WASHER AND DRYER, and not only does it still work, but none of the files I saved on it were lost! A great product!
Rating: Summary: Very cool! Review: I purchased this product for abour 45 dollars from Target. This little thing works excatly like a floppy disc or CD-RW. When you plug it in, an F: drive is instantly created and opened. You can store any type of file - just like with CDs. The files are transfered much faster than floppys or CDs, though. If you have songs or word documents saved, you don't need to copy them to the hard drive to open or play them - they'll play right of the jumpdrive. This thing is cool. I keep it on my keychain - it's not much larger or heavier than a carkey - and take it everywhere. If I'm at a friends house and he has a cool picture that he's taken, I can instantly get a copy for myself. Or I can save songs, and play them on someone else's computer. If you use more than one computer, this is even better. You can save things you're wroking on to this drive, and then have access to them wherever you go. Or, if you share a computer, this is sweet, to. You don't have to store your documents where anyone can find them - you can keep them on your keychain. Which leads to the next point. You can password-protect a certain portion of the space on your jumpdrive - you choose how do divide the private and public sections. So in conclusion, this thing is cool.
Rating: Summary: USB Jumpdrive a life saver Review: I recently picked this up on my visit to the states in Nov 2003.... I am now back working in Australia. I have found this little jumpdrive to be one of the most handy inventions/tools I have ever come across. I am currently working on a contract where I am using two laptops, not linked to each other, but on one I have to obtain screen dumps for a training system and somehow get the files across to the other computer, without a network link, without the ability to burn CD's and way too big to fit on a floppy. This sturdy little device is a life safer and has made life SIMPLE! Thank you for an excellent product.... just wish I could get my hands on more in Australia :-)
Rating: Summary: my jumpdrive died without any reason Review: I thought that this jumpdrive was my best buy ever made until one day (without any reason!) it just didnt work ans lost all my critical info.
Rating: Summary: Check out the Neck Size Before Buying Review: The device itself works just fine -- it's not rocket science. But be careful. The plastic housing around the insertion end is fairly wide. If your USB ports are on the back of your computer and/or close to protrouding metal housing on your computer you may have a tough time using this (it's unusable on my home computer) and my wish to consider a model with a trim neck profile. There are many on the market.
Rating: Summary: junk Review: this device is a piece of junk. the design is poor in terms of access to the usb port, but mainly the problem is that IT DOES NOT WORK. while i may have gotten a random bad device, the fact that my computer does not even register that it is plugged in leads me to assume that the device is dead, and i have no intention of further wasting my time by replacing it with yet another of the same model. (and if you are wondering, yes, all other devices, including flash drives, that i have utilized on my usb port have worked with no problem.
Rating: Summary: Excellent portable storage Review: Very useful tool; the savings in burning CD-Rs (even CD-RWs) is worth it -- and a whole lot faster. The one drawback is that this unit is just barely too wide to fit in the front USB connection of my Gateway. So I use a short USB extender cable to plug it in.
