Rating: Summary: flawless! Review: Don't have any idea what people are talking about when they say this is a "noisy" drive...are those shill reviews or what? Beats the hell out of my Dell's OEM Maxtor drive, which barely lasted one year before getting corrupted and starting to cascade.
The Seagates now all have 5 year warranties---that's about as strong a statement of their quality and durability as you could ask for. Well worth the extra what, twenty or thirty bucks more than the Maxtors and Western Digitals out there. Got mine from newegg.com for just ninety clams shipped, they have superb products, service and prices.
Rating: Summary: Rather own noise then junk Review: I Have this drive and yes it is a little bit on the noisy side but i have been constructing computers for over 10 years and seagate is reputible they stand behind their products and they are more reliable then the pieces of junk made by maxtor and quantum. I owned a quantum and it died it a week and a half. Also western digital is awesome theyre a lil more expensive but they are worth the extra chunk of change.
Rating: Summary: Excellent investment Review: I picked up this hard drive recently and I must say it has been a great investment. For the money I spent on it I definitely got my money's worth. It's quiet, fast, and outperforms my current HD beautifully. I cannot recommend it enough. I shopped around considerably before settling on the Barracuda, and I must say it has paid off!
Rating: Summary: Great Drive Review: This drive is very quiet. I have 2 drives in my computer and I have to work hard to hear this one, even while it's doing something intensive like defragging. I'm thinking of buying another Seagate and replacing the other drive as well. To top it off, it comes with a 5 year warranty. If you're willing to shop (...), you can find some excellent deals.
Rating: Summary: Very Noisy Review: This thing would be perfect were it not for the noise. Constant humming, can hear it in the next room. Other than that I have it partitioned into 4 volumes and it works very well, double the performance of my previous drive (10 GB quantum)
