Summary: Maxtor 3000 DV Firewire External Drive
Review: An excellent drive... I have been pleased with its performance. I use this as my personal data storage drive for working with digital images. The speed of the drive allows me to edit my digital images directly from the Maxtor drive. MP3 files work equally well.

Issues? Yes. The drive does not have an "on/off" switch necessitating an extra power cord with "on/off" switch. It also requires that the drive be parked via the Win 98Se utility. Make sure you "stop" the drive before you turn it off.

Additionally the drive included software but the instructions do not tell you that the software is only for the Mac users, not Windows users. For Windows users it is truly plug and play.

If you want a portable drive this is not it, but it is an excellent drive as a backup or primary drive for your desktop.

On the plus side, Maxtor tech support via the phone is excellent, they answered all my questions and phone time was minimal.

Overall a great drive! I plan to purchase an additional drive as a backup drive.
