Summary: Awesome for my first drive
Review: I bought this drive to accomodate my laptop on my deployment to Iraq with the US Army. It works great! What are people talking about when they say "No on/off switch!?" My Iomega came with a switch!

Summary: ALMOST PERFECT but HUGE DESIGN FLAW!!!
Review: I have had this hard drive several weeks now, and it's great. It is perfect for what I need: something to put on my desk to store my extra files. It plugs into an outlet on its own and is not as portable as one that runs off of the USB/Firewire power from your computer (hard to find for this much storage on an external). The only problem I had was the firewire cable is 6 pin on both ends. My computer accepts 4 pins... NO electronics store had that in stock in my area, so I ended up buying a $25 4 to 6 pin cable that I wouldn't have needed if I would have purchased a $4 adaptor from Amazon at the same time. Otherwise, GREAT PRODUCT. It simply comes on when you plug it in.. does not get very warm at all. No needless buttons. Speedy, easy, comes bundled with Norton Ghost and Backup. Cheap & Great Solution!

Summary: trusted name...horrible product
Review: It's going back.

Corrupt documents, crashes, double clicking document icon-nothing happening, crazy errors like"...document contains foreign languages, can not open," firewire connection problems and it's only been two weeks... I lost 2 annual reports with billings of over $1 million. Unfortunately, It seems like the other external hard drives have problems too. So now I'm going to try the LaCie.

Review: Love everything about this drive EXCEPT for the LACK if a ON/OFF BUTTON!!!!!! If this drive is left ON long it gets VERY HOT....it will eventually die out if left on!!!!

When I called IOMEGA Cust. Support, they told me the solution for dealing with this would be to unplug the drive when Im not using it and to plus it in each time I use it- HOW REDICULOUS!!!!!

POOR DESIGN because of this one, but MAJOR FLAW!!!
