Summary: Seems I am not the only one with bad luck.
Review: Got the same problem as the former reviewer. It worked fine for about 3-4 months. Then without any specfic reason, it started to freeze up my XP Pro whenever I want to copy anything bigger than 100-200M from my harddrive. I ran the system defragment, re-installed XP, changed from 1394 to USB2. Problem was still there. Sent an e-mail to the company, no response for over 4 weeks.

Stay away from this!

FYI, my system:
HP pavilion ze 1230, AMD(m) 1400+, 512M, 20G. XP Pro SP1, with latest updates.

Summary: Fantastic!!!!
Review: I have several Maxtor hard drives and have power cords and usb cords EVERYWHERE!! My husband gave me a rocketpod for Christmas and I was so impressed that I ran out and got another one. I have both 120gb drives almost full and they stay connected to my computer and on all the time. They both work great and I am getting ready to buy another one. I love the fact that it reduces the number of cords and cables I have! LOVE it!!

Summary: Garbage
Review: Ok what a great idea hard drives you can stack and not have to add more plugs to each hard drive, a great feature considering i'm almost out of USB ports and i already have 2 surge protectors pretty much filled. So i bought one of these and it worked great for about 3 weeks and then the fan started making a horrible screaming noise, i figured it was a once in a blue moon problem, so i exchanged it for another one and also bought another one at the same time because i needed more space. Well about a month went by and one of them crashed and cost me about 45gbs worth of data, then about a week after that the remaining acomdata hard drive started making the same fan noise as the 1st one i returned so i went out and bought a 200gb maxtor, which is wonderful, and started transferring everything off of the acomdata with the fan problem before that crashed like the other one, and it had about 109gbs worth of data on it and it would only transfer like 2gbs before my computer just quit reckognizing it as a drive, so i had to shut it off and try again, took me about 3 days to do a 3 hour job. Never ever buy this product, i took one apart and found out the hd was made by samsung. So now im trying to get my money back from acomdata, i can understand a faulty product here and there but when you purchase 3 of the same product and they all go bad, that is just rediculous. Now i have $400 worth of completely usless hds just collecting dust.

Summary: Piece of Junk
Review: This drive has been intermittent from day one. Works for a while, then freezes Windows XP. Tried changing USB cables. Tried it on different computers. It is just plain garbage. Would not reccomend under any circumstances. Very unhappy customer.

Summary: A great concept
Review: Unlike some other reviewers I have had no problems with the drives. I have three of them stacked with the only complaint being the drives could be a little quieter. I use these drives in conjuction with ReplayTV and DVArchive and stream from the drives through a computer running XP to either of the TVs in my house. Movies, shows, and ballgames are all viewed with nary a glitch. I am hopeful that the DVD writer will be released soon, so I can add that to the stack. It really is a great concept to utilize only one USB or firewire port and half the number of power slots for up to five peripherals. It certainly has made expansion much easier for me.
