Summary: The best there is!
Review: This is the best! Superior audio quality. Excellent battery life (8-10 hours). Super fast transfer using Firewire. Very intuitive and easy to use menus. Great feature set including contact lists, calendar, games and more. If you know a music lover, this would make a great gift! I take this thing everywhere. I would recommend the Sennheiser PX 100 headphones (available on Amazon for under 40 dollars) as a must have accessory for this. I also like the ability to use this as a firewire hard drive which allows backup of important files from my hard drive. It costs more than the competition but is worth EVERY bit of it.

Summary: There's a newer 10GB iPod for the Mac
Review: This is the older model of the Mac 10GB iPod. There's a newer model, also available at Amazon, which has a thinner profile, new headphones, and a wired remote. At the moment, that model costs $$$ or $$$ more than this older model. Just be aware before you buy--the title alone can be deceiving since they're both named the same. It's up to you to decide if the price difference is worth it. Some of the features of the new iPod, like the packaged iTunes 3, are available for free from the Apple website to owners of previous models as well.

Summary: Suspect
Review: This product is incredibly innovative, but believe me, it has its flaws. My first problems started the second day I had it, when it inexplicably froze up. This happens often. I end up having to reset it, which takes a minute or two. This is a common problem, just go to the Apple.com discussion boards.I first became suspicious of the iPod after I found out that Apple only offers a 90 day warranty on it. No extended warranties are available! That's a huge red flag. Luckily, I'm getting mine fixed free of charge right now, but it's like [money] if the warranty has expired... I think one of the main misconceptions about the iPod is the type of use it is most suited for. Remember, inside this gizmo there is an actual hard drive. This means that there are moving parts, spinning discs, etc. It's mechanical. And anything mechanical is much more prone to breaking. Therefore, please understand that the iPod is NOT good for vigorous use such as running or working out. Its best uses would be for simply walking and sitting around. So if you want something to listen to while jogging, I would probably get something else. (besides, cases come separate) ... I used to own a RIO 600, but that died after 13 months, which was apparently a world record for a RIO product. But that was only [money], the iPod is [money]. What scares me is what I'm supposed to do when it konks out on me in three more months. And I fully expect it to within a max of 2 years. One more warning: iPods routinely have battery related problems, mainly that the batteries drain extremely fast. Other than that, it's great. 2000 songs. Wonderful interface. Beautiful design. Actually, it's almost too beautiful, I tend to be way to careful with it. I'm always buffing it and stuff, I kinda wish it was more plain looking so I wouldn't feel so guilty about getting a tiny scratch on it.

Summary: The BEST MP3 player out there!
Review: This thing couldn't be any easier or cooler to use. 1. Burn the CD's you want to your computer using Apple's iTunes program (which comes with your Mac). 2. Plug in your iPod to the firewire port on the computer. The iPod automatically downloads your songs and charges your battery at the same time. Downloading a CDs worth of music takes about 10 seconds!!! Amazingly fast! The unit itself is great. It's not only a pleasure to look at but a pleasure to use as well. Apple provides wonderful instructions with the player, but trust me, you won't even need them. Play around with the thing for a minute and you'll have a complete understanding of how to use it. My only beef with the unit is that the headphones aren't that great. I recommend upgrading to Sennheiser MX500 earbuds (which Amazon sells). It's a cheap upgrade that makes a WORLD of difference, trust me.

Review: What a terrific MP3 player!
I would recommend a case for the Ipod. ...While I don't want to repeat all that has been said...the fast download, easy sync with iTunes, the iPod itself being so well designed... one cannot help but compliment Apple for making such a fine piece of equipment. I bought the 10 GB version, have 562 songs downloaded, and have 7 GB's left! A triumph! Just a note, the headphones that come with the unit feel uncomfortable and are a little too large for my ear. Use another pair of headphones. ...

Summary: Just Plain Excellent
Review: With a quality ripping program and some time, I was able to upload my entire record collection onto the iPod. And I still have plenty of space left. The iPod makes my life incredibly easier. Now with something that's about 1/4 the size of my CD player I can have music for however I feel in my pocket. Plus it's sleek and easy to operate. A few downsides: the headphones get tangled when they're in my pocket, but I can't really complain. If I wanted nontangled headphones, I'd use a bigger pair, but I need something small and portable, so I use the supplied ones and just deal with the untangling. Also, the battery can only be recharged with the adapter they give you. Not having to carry around batteries is good, but if you're camping for a couple of days it could run out. But in the end, I'm overjoyed with my iPod and think it's the greatest gadget a music lover can own.

Summary: Simply the best!!
Review: Without a doubt, the iPod is the best mp3 player out there today. It has an elegant simplicity that most other players lack--it can be operated with one hand (one thumb!) and integrates seamlessly with the Mac platform. Windows users, take note: you, too, can use this incredible toy--there's at least two programs that let you mount it on your computer and transfer your songs over. (Though you should just get a Mac... ;) ) The 10GB size is just right for me, though it may be too much for some and too little for others. My only qualm is that the iPod doesn't adapt playlists like the RioRiot, which will "watch" what you do and compile a list of current favorites, or songs you haven't listened to in a while. However, if there is enough interest, I'm sure Apple will update the iPod's software (which the user can download very easily) or someone will make a hack. You cannot go wrong with this one...
