Review: I bought mine in March and it has worked like a charm ever since. There's nothing like this player in the Windows world. It's a little masterpiece.Having hundreds of songs in my pocket makes commuting a pleasure. Love this machine!

Review: Although this particular model is not compatible with Windows, Apple just released an ipod that is. What's cool about this mp3 player is that Apple also offers laser engraving. Yes, this engraving makes all the difference in the world when you want to customize it to give it to that special someone. This mp3 player is also slimmer than most other hard drive mp3 players (a big plus) and beats out all the other memory card based mp3 players that relied on tiny 64 mb smartmedia cards. The sound is also good. The firewire transfer rate is great -- better than USB anyday.

Summary: Ipod ...A Music Lover's Dream
Review: Let me be the first to say that the iPod is one of the best investments I've made in technology this year (Sorry Nasdaq). I've wanted an MP3 player ever since Rio came out with it's first USB models. I'm glad I waited for the right time to get one. Apple has impressed me considerably. I'm a very active individual. I purchased my iPod about 3 months ago and I baby this thing more so than my laptop, PDA, Ps2, Gamecube, etc. In other words, hands off if you didn't pay for it =). The iPod barely stays home. It's discreet enough for me to wear at work without bringing too much attention. The high quality earbuds that are packaged with the product are small enough to be mistaken for cellphone earbuds. The iPod fits in my pocket with ease. I usually leave it seperated from my keys and wallet for fear of scratching but the acryllic surface attracts small scratches easy. Good protection would involve purchasing a carrying case from such makers like Xtrememac.com who offer swivel, belt clipped ipod cases and other accessories. Enough with the small talk. The 5 gb iPod can hold over 1,000 songs in which equates to 10 hours of continuous play at full volume. Built in EQ settings, ability to store contacts from Palm Desktop, Multi-language support, and standard options like random play of songs, random play of albums, and importation of MP3 playlists means that this MP3 player doesn't mess around. An extremely bright backlight will literally light illuminate the interior of any dark setting in which many people will think it's an extraterrestrial experience in the palm of your hand. The beauty of firmware upgrading means that perhaps support for MP4 format is possible. Slightly longer than a credit card and about 1/2" thick, it weighs a very light 6.5 oz. Being that it's built for the active lifestyle, I've tested the durability myself. I've played basketball in 90F degree weather, gone jogging, traveled to many other cities, taken it to work 5 days a week and this player has not given me any trouble. Worth the money. If you are like me, you have many cd's in your collection. I'll be honest, 5 gb might sound like alot but in actuality I have run out of space. I download an average 10 cd's a month. A 10 gb exists for those of us who NEED more space and there will be a 20gb version released soon. But for now, my 5gb iPod is my "bestest" friend...as far as gadgets go. ;-)

Summary: And I thought it was stupid
Review: Before I ws allowed to borrow one for a few days I thought it sounded expensive and frivolous. Now I cannot imagine my life without it. I use it to move large files from work to home like a portable HD, and still have room for more than a thousand songs to keep my travel time musical! It is so small and delicate looking that at first i worried it might break, but it has taken a number of drops and jostles without even skipping! PC software now exists too, so there is no reason not to go ahead and get one!

Summary: IPod Just the best, no compromising
Review: The ability to hold and operate this unit in the palm of one hand gives this MP3 player the edge over all competitors. I love "the circle" that you can move up and down with your thumb to select just the right song from the hundreds stored. Then press the center of the circle and you are playing your music. What an incredible single handed user interface. We are using it on an Intel based system with Mediafour's "Xplay" product and it works great!

Summary: Consider NetMD
Review: The iPod is a great technology and a great value compared to other MP3 players which are slower with transfer rates and much more expensive as measured by price per MB. iPod fits so much music that you can pretty much sell your CD collection after you transfer it. My only complaint is the relative fragility of the disc drive as compared to the cost of replacement. I don't like the idea of constantly having to worry about damaging the unit and sending it for repair. I came across this weird little gadget -- the recording minidisc players which are smaller (3x3 inches), lighter (less than half a pound), and about 40% of the cost ($[money]), and decided it was more interesting. Apple gives you a housed hard drive, but minidisc gives you an optical disc burner thats smaller than your wallet. Also, minidisc technology allows you to burn minidiscs and give music discs to your friends. And with the $[money] dollars you save, you can buy, I dunno, more music rather than hard drive space which will never be used.

Summary: I'm in love.
Review: It's hard to top the other reviews here, but I will add one slight drawback that I've not read about elsewhere: it runs a bit hot to the touch, especially while recharging. Also, naturally, the bass doesn't match the iSub on my iMac DV. But that's it! All 800 songs transferred in a few minutes, preserving my playlists, and it fits in my shirt pocket, though my pants pocket may be a little more comfortable. I'm going to have fun at work today!

Summary: I'd go 10GB
Review: My iPod, a surprise gift to me from my wife & family, is superb. I've got 1200 songs on there now (about 10% of my collection; and yes, I own all the CDs). One thing I find it particularly good for is road trips. Set it for shuffle & in 5 hours you won't hear the same song twice. My only beef with it is that there's a newer one with double the disc space.
The sound's fine & the battery lasts quite a while. I WOULD like a better "Battery Low" indicator; currently it doesn't give me much warning. [Note: Since I first wrote this the software updates give greatly improved battery info and longer battery life. I'd up it to 5 stars, but the newer ones are so much bigger/smaller].

Summary: iPod, uPod, we ALL pod!
Review: I've had my iPod for just over two months now and I LOVE it. Being able to carry around all my music in one easy to handle device is devine! And now with the updated iPod software you can can shoose between 20 EQ presets and store addresses in the iPod as well! Talk about an all in one device! But I think my favorite feature (aside from it's slim, gorgeous design) is the FireWire connection. 987 songs took about 10 minutes to transfer from my mac to the iPod. I've also transferred Quick Time and share ware files from my computer to another using just the iPod. That 5 GB drive comes in quite handy when wanting to share big files! Tip: The iPod comes out of the box wrapped in a plastic film. Don't throw it away! Carefully take the iPod out and put it back into the case so that the words "Don't steal music" are over the jog dial. Now, with a pair of scissors, carefully score the plactic around the jog dial, headphone jack and hold button and remove the pieces. Now you've got a free case that keeps your iPod free from scratches but doesn't hide it's beautiful design!

Summary: iPod? Go, or No Go
Review: Wow, this thing is awsome. As soon as I took it out of the box its gentle faceplate and cool steel back carresed my hands. I tried to turn it on but quickly remembered it needed to be charged. The wait was excrutiating, but when it was finnaly over I started downloading my entire library. It only took 10 minutes because of its fire wire port. I should mention I dont own a Mac but thanks to Xplay I can use it with my PC. Anyway, the sound quality is super good but to fully hear the music you should get high quality head phones. I recomend the Sennheiser HD 570's. The iPod is a really great product that I wish everyone could enjoy, but because of it's price tag many can't. They should lower the price soon I hope. TheiPod is a Go!! Buy it, listen to it, and love it.
