Summary: Prone to crashing
Review: This MP3 player would be great if it didn't keep crashing and losing all my music. I finally took mine back after the hard disk in it cratered and I lost all my music for the third time. Another guy who owned one told me he had the same problem. The other bad thing about it is that the controls are all digital, so you have to scroll through a menu to do things like adjust the volume or treble/bass levels.

It does have lots of room, more than most, but that only counts if it does basic things like not lose all my songs.

Summary: Be forewarned
Review: My jukebox worked great for the past 2 months until yesterday. I was just holding it in my hand when I stopped it then started it again 2 minutes later and it wouldn't start up for no apparent reason. I'm not sure about other hard drive based players but take the fragile/defective issue into consideration. I am seeing a lot of similiar posts about this same problem. Otherwise, when the jukebox worked it was great.

Summary: Make your friends and strangers envious
Review: I received my Archos 6000 last week, so I may need to update the review if I do run into problems, but thus far I have been very satisfied with it.
Obviously the 6 Gigs is the biggest draw. I am using it for all my personal files, including documents. Having file transfer done by dragging files to an additional Windows directory is incredibly useful.
Some people seem to think it is heavy, but I think the weight is only too much for running- I have been carrying it everywhere and don't find the size or weight to be a problem at all. Tip:
1) To turn the Archos on hold the 'on' button for more than 3 seconds. This fixed all the mysterious problems I had with getting the USB to work..... Issues:
1) The manual is light on information. But the controls are not that difficult to figure out.
2) The maximum volume is not very loud. I have only found this to be an issue on loud subways.

Summary: Great Product Terrible Instructions
Review: If the people who created this masterpiece could only learn how to write instructions, this Archos Jukebox would be off the charts. I was a little timid to buy this due to some of the Jukebox's mixed reviews. They seemed to be two ends of the spectrum, but I stepped out based upon Amazon's return policy. This MP3 player is fantastic. The only set back has been figuring it out. That does not mean that once you do it is hard, quite the contrary. The instruction manual is horribly written. I learned more from the side of the box than in the book itself. It looks thick but it is written in 5 different languages and has about 3 pages of instructions in English. For a novice computer person, if you just hang in there, it will all turn out great; or better yet, just ask someone. Archos help line was no help. I figured out my problem while I waited for 20 minutes on the phone and simply hung up. I know this is all the peripheral stuff. However, the Archos 6000 to me was a worthy investment. For probably $100 more than a CD player walkman, I can put all of my CD's on one unit, is a thrilling thought to me. I would recommend it to those that don't give up or to those who have computer friends. Once you download and see how easy it is, you will buy more CD's just to get all the music in one place. It is awesome. The thrill of victory was so much better than the hours of figuring out what the heck Archos was telling me.

Summary: Love this gadget!
Review: I have had this Archos Jukebox 6000 for almost a week now..and I love it! Its small and lightweight. Takes an average of 20 to 30 seconds to upload a song from Music Match Jukebox 6.0 to Jukebox 6000! Takes about 10 mins or so...for Music Match to record your Cd's onto computer. I bought a cassette adaptor..to use in the car, so now over 50 songs(putting more on as i write this) from my music collection are now stored on my Jukebox 6000 and are easily playable in my car...and the sound is way better than my car stereo has ever played before! Works great as a walkman type player.....but i haven't done anything in an active nature(jogging..etc) to see how it plays in that situation. The overall sound is fabulous! The headphones are lightweight...and are a perfect fit for me. Now let me address some of the issues others who have posted reviews have written about. Well installation of this software..wasn't as easy as some say it is....and those who aren't experienced with computers...might have some troubles....especially when they find that they need to download the newer version of MusicMatch Jukebox...the software they give you has been updated...and if you don't know this...you'll be trying to use the MusicMatch jukebox..to put songs on your Jukebox 6000...unsucessfully :( ....Then you will wonder...what the heck is going on here!...Then you might screw things in your computer up...by trying to figure out why the old version of Music Match is telling you your 6000 has negative memory. Well that was my situation.....i was worried i got a lemon...emailed customer service...couldn't call...the number is no longer in service...I received a courteous email within 24 hours telling me that i needed to update music match 4.1 to music match 6.0.....and now it works great! The users manual could be a little more user friendly...it can be confusing for a person who isn't schooled in computer "lingo". I think many people who have had problems with this product....didn't know what they were doing....and didn't have the patience to figure out the problems....when u spend [money] on something...its easy to get scared that u may have thrown $$ down the tubes....so u end up sending it back...as soon as u can...so u don't lose out. But, I think if you have any problems...use the email...and get some help...they even responded on the weekend...to my thank you email...telling me if i had any other problems or comments..they are there for me. There will always be...areas in any product that could improved..on the Jukebox 6000...i wish it was easier to control the volume..sometimes i worry that it would be too loud...and to fix the volume..u have to actually look at the players screen....but other than that...i don't have any major problems...any problems people may have...are pretty much...because they are not very familiar with computers...or preference problems...such as volume control..or maybe they prefer different headphones. This product is great for me!...it can't cure cancer...won't make u fly...but i bought the Archos 6000 to have a huge collection of my music in the palm of my hand...listen occasionally at work...and to play in the car or wherever i go...not for any other reasons...and i am happily satified .Thanks :)

Summary: Buy the Creative Nomad, dump the Archos Jukebox
Review: My Archos Jukebox did not last more than a couple of weeks before I received the "hard disk error" that several other people mentioned. Mine would also power down by itself for no apparent reason. Also, I assumed that the sound quality was poor because of the MP3 compression. However, I exchanged the Archos Jukebox for the Creative Nomad and found that my MP3 files sounded great on the Nomad compared with the Archos. The Nomad just seems more solid and professionally built than the Archos. The Archos seems pretty cheap and flimsy. Tech support did not seem to be very good, although they admitted that there was an obvious problem with many of their units. The only thing that Archos has going for them is that you can use the Jukebox as a hard drive and you can just drag and drop your MP3 files on to it without using a software program.

Summary: DOA
Review: After reading all I could, I settled on this beautiful little baby. I was so excited when it arrived. I plugged it in, let it charge overnight, but it would never turn on, just went to auto power off. So, I just packed it up, and it is going back. I am very dissapointed. This is the perfect Idea, too bad it didn't work. I am still optimistic however, so I will be exchanging it. Hopefully the next one will work! I'll revise me review if it does.

Summary: So far it's flawless.
Review: I bought a JB6000 2 weeks ago and have had none of the problems that other people have had. I have used it at home, in the car and at the gym and not had a single problem. My only complaint is that the manual is pretty bad. The Archos website has better info but they could still do a much better job.

Addendum: Over a month and still no probs. Headphones included are not very good though. DC port seems kinda weak - hope it doesn't cause problems in the future.
