Summary: Big Gamble
Review: If this product works, it is a great buy. However, from my experience (my girlfriend and I have gone through 3 between us), they last AT MOST several months before breaking, and when they do malfunction, Technical Support is nowhere to be found. Mine broke 1 month ago, and I have yet to receive a reply to an email to tech support. Furthermore, the tech support phone line has a 949 area code (California) and has a perpetual busy signal. I imagine they keep the phone off the hook to avoid answering to the numerous problems with their product. Once I can afford a replacement, I will not be buying from Archos. If you're lucky, you'll wind up with a nice MP3 player for a low price; otherwise, you will lose a few hundred dollars.

Summary: [NO GOOD]...
Review: This is the most annoying ...[thing] i've encountered in all my days. FIRST: The batteries last for 2 1/2 hours AT MOST. Second: It is near IMPOSSIBLE to follow the installation instructions. Third: It freezes my computer EVERYTIME i try and put more songs on it. There are more reasons to list, but i am going to go and throw mine ...[out].

Summary: Archos 5GB Jukebox 5000
Review: I bought the 5000 instead of the 6000 only because it had an instant $50.00 rebate and the only difference is 1GB less memory. With that said I have the following comments:
1.Memory, ease of loading is just plain easy!
2.On/Off function has alot to be desired!
3.My battery life doesn't seem long enough but they did give me two sets of rechargables.
4.I wish you could delete a song right from the unit and not have to hook it up to your computer to do so. The good news is you can delete one or more songs.
5.The sound quality is very good.
6.The owners manual is very inadequate. Being computer literate and very good with electronics helps.
7.Even with these cons I would highly recommend this unit or the 6,10 or 20GB units!
8. Unlike some of the other people, my unit worked right out of the box and has never given me one moment of regret.
9. It comes complete with case, extra batteries and headphones.

Summary: Great product at a great price!
Review: THE best value for MP3 players. You can fit over 2000 songs on this thing, and it's so easy to organize files. If you can operate Windows Explorer, etc, you can create an excellent directory of music. Better than CDs, MDs, and other MP3 players, because it's just a little more money for up to 110x as many songs as a CD. The only thing you need to know: imagine having every song you like at your finger tips wherever you go.

Summary: Macintosh users beware
Review: My recommendation is not to buy this product if you are going to use this on your mac. This product crashes the finder on both of my mac's (G4 &G3) and the MusicMatch software is worthless. To create music playlists you need to search the web for a third party piece of software that works OK but can only access one level, so you cannot organize you music into artist folders, you have one big folder with many (100's) MP3's. It gets messy I would buy a Ipod.

Summary: Great design, poor support, cheap hard drive
Review: The looks of this device is pleasing to the eye, but one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I've had problems from day one. Installation, connectivity and more. To put this long story short, the hard drive on these babies almost always has problems. A drawback is that the Archos 800 number tech support is disconnected! What's bothersome is that they never respond to emails. I guess they're going out of business soon. I would not recommend this device no matter how tempting. Creative has a Nomad Jukebox, I would go for that.I give this device a 2.5 stars (which rounds up to 3)

Summary: Things to consider when buying the Jukebox!!
Review: The main problem that I encountered in the product as soon as I bought it was a faulty hard disk drive. After trying to contact Archos for customer support, all I was able to receive was an e-mail repeating the same troubleshooting tips that were on the product booklet. After finally exchanging it for another of its kind, and getting it to work, I must say that sound quality was not that impressive. Sure, the Jukebox is a neat storage toy: About 6 gigabytes and [a price tag] worth of 90 day warranty technology that I finally returned 3 days later. If you are just blowing off your cash go for it! Its just another fragile tech toy. Otherwise you might find yourself a better product. In my case, I got myself the new Net MiniDisc Player/Recorder from Sony. I still have to burn, but at least its cheaper, its compact, it contains a longer warranty and I can exercise without worrying about crashing the hardrive.

Summary: Archos or Nomad?
Review: I tried both the Archos 6000 and the Nomad Jukebox (6gig) and I must tell you; the Archos 6000 wins in the end. Let's compare the two if we shall: 1. FILE ORGANIZATION. The Nomad Jukebox does have a better file organization system but at a cost. It takes almost a minute to start up and is very slow when playlists are added. The Archos Jukebox has a simple file organizational method which does not slow the player down when you're doing other things (ie changing settings)and does not hamper the start-up time 2. PORTABILITY. The Archos Jukebox 6000 is MUCH more portable then the Nomad Jukebox. The Nomad Jukebox is very heavy and bulky and hard to even carry around in your pockets. The Archos Jukebox fits in the palm of your hand and isn't cumbersome. 3. CUSTOMER SUPPORT. For the Archos Jukebox, customer support, is pretty bad. I had to send a previous archos jukebox back because the interface was going haywire (probably because I was jogging with it, which is a bad idea!). The customer support gave me an RMA number and I sent it in, but getting the RMA number in the first place was a task. BUT they did send me a BRAND NEW player out in under two weeks. 4. DISPLAY. The Archos Jukebox has a smaller display size. But I must tell you, it's a LOT more attractive then the Nomad's orange LCD light which annoyed me greatly. The con for the Archos is that it has a plastic display case, which didn't bother me at all. 5. BATTERY LIFE. The Nomad Jukebox has TERRIBLE battery life. The maximum life I got from their (high capacity) batteries was 3 hours. Also, I'm convinced that the battery recharger didn't even work. The Archos Jukebox has 8 hour battery life and charges every time I plug it in. This was the biggest determinant for me in the end because, let's face it, 3 hours is junk! When I'm walking around campus or taking long trips; I don't want to have to bring 10000 batteries. 6. SOFTWARE. The Nomad Jukebox uses its own software for uploading songs, although it has many features that come with the software; it's ultimetly pointless. The Archos Jukebox shows up as a Drive letter which makes it a breeze to upload songs (or anything you want!). 7. SOUND QUALITY. The Nomad Jukebox has much better sound quality then the Archos Jukebox. The Archos Jukebox lacks the Bass (which could be better with better headphones) and the equalizer abilities that the Nomad Jukebox has an overabundence of (environmental settings, come on, talk about pointless bells and whistles!), and YES, the headphones that come with the Archos are JUNK! If you're like me, and you have a couple pairs lying around, just throw the ones that came with it out! CONCLUSION... The Archos Jukebox 6000 does away with many (IMO) pointless features that the Nomad Jukebox has; it is by far the better MP3 player of the two. (just don't take it running!)
