Rating: Summary: Looks and feels cheap, but works great! Review: This is a very affordable SW radio, and it shows. It doesn't feel substantial, the materials are low quality, and it's not very rugged. That being said, it works great. It's compact, has great reception, easy to use, has a headphone jack, and can be powered by a 4.5v dc adaptor. Perfect for what I need, which is just to sit on a shelf while I listen. If you want a rugged SW radio then you'll have to pay for one, but if you want an affordable, compact SW radio then this is the one.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: I have purchased a number of radios-always looking for the best. This little Sangean is simply a great radio-the reception is tremendous, and I still have the original batteries in it, over one month, short wave is great and the price is only 29.95. I don't have anything bad to say about the Sangean 622.
Rating: Summary: excellent emergency radio Review: I bought this radio as my place loses power a lot and right away I got great reception! The size of it is about that of a paperback book, but lighter. It takes 3 AA batteries and is easy to tune, I haven't had need for the atenna yet. I haven't tried to reach some of the international stations, but am happy with the product.
Rating: Summary: A good radio for middle East users Review: I have had a lot of good reviews from people who have used Sangean products in the past, so I decided to go for a SG 622. The radio is great and the broadcast reception both SW and FM from stations is terrific. BBC and Voice of America. I cannot afford cable news so a radio does well for my needs. I am here in ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, MIDDLE EAST. The cost here is around US$23/= and is available in most shops.I think the price also makes a good and quality gift.
Rating: Summary: Excellent AM/FM... Affordable Introductory Shortwave Review: I wanted a small, unobtrusive radio for home listening. I started at Radio Shack, which, oddly, has a poor selection of radios. I found the Sangean SG-622 at Amazon for a great price -- lowest price I found for the SG-622 on the Internet. Plus, the short wave capability sounded fun, too (I've never listened to short wave).I would have spent the same amount of money at Radio Shack, but gotten much less. The SG-622 is battery-friendly. A cheap set of Walgreen's batteries were still going strong after 2 months. The sound is great, more solid and full than I had expected out of a radio this size. I don't often tune to the short wave frequencies, but I know I could explore them some lazy weekend afternoon. Great for the office, too. I've used clock radios at my office, but the reception has always been terrible. After finding the right spot and fully extending the antenna, the SG-622 picked up all local stations quite well. Plus, I can use headphones while working.
Rating: Summary: poor and horrible Review: I ordered the Sangean sg 622 and when I recieved it it only picks up the FM stations only the SW bands did not work at all, Now I have to go thru the trouble of sending it back and going thru the refund process, Shame they don't test them before they mail out. Sad experience.
Rating: Summary: Good radio for the price. Review: This is a good low end radio, the sensitivity is good and signal to noise ratio is good on a low to medium signal. the selectivity is only average it still is a very good radio for the entry level listener. I am a ham operator and bought this rig for a cheap receiver for camping.
Rating: Summary: For the money you can't beat it Review: I live in a metal mobile home and I can't even get am radio with other radios I have. With this Sangean I pick up not only am but tons of shortwave stations while inside the mobile home. This was always impossible without going outside. If you're looking for an inexpensive shortwave radio I don't see how you could do any better for the price.
Rating: Summary: a bit of a disapointment Review: This radio was a disapointment. I live 30 miles outside of Chicago, so I'm not in one of the most challenging areas, such as in the loop or in downtown NY. The FM band could only reach the very strongest stations, and not the weaker ones as I'd hoped. I guess it comes down to this: that you get what you pay for. This inexpensive radio was unremarkable; as matter of fact I actually couldn't receive that many Shortwave stations either.
Rating: Summary: Great little radio and basic shortwave Review: I've purchased 7 for Christmas gifts after buying one for myself. The sound is very good for a radio this small. AM and FM come in great and the shortwave will pick up most major signals. Voice of America, CBC, BBC and others depending on conditions, time, location and signal strength (as with all shortwave radios). It's not a perfect SW receiver but it is perfect for what it does. There is no equivalent at this price on the market. A great value and well made by a good brand.... You can spend far more for a worse radio.
