Summary: Terribly slow
Review: 6 gigabyte transfer takes over an hour on the fastest computer.

Avoid.

Summary: Does the Job!
Review: A good, inexpensive and adequate job for backing up LOTS of data. 40GB, $167, and USB connectivity (1.0 not 2.0). What a great combo - all I need to backup my huge MP3 and other files easily and quickly.
I plan to get a couple more of these down the road and create a "drive array" so that computers on my network can access files as if I had one central set of file servers (i.e. you can use these drives as more than just for backup purposes).

I don't know why some people couldn't get it to install (probably user error blaming the product) - it worked fine for me on my Windows 2000 machine. 1) load the drivers off the CD 2)plug in unit to wall and USB port 3)voila, a new letter drive appears. How much easier could it be. 5 minutes overall to install (2 minutes to open package, 2 minutes to plug it in, 1 minute to install drivers).

Last notes: I'm satisified overall - no more messing with and removing the computer case and drive bays. Comes with backup software but I haven't used it yet (doing it the manual method).

Summary: Look for 'Imation SuperSlim' drive
Review: Buslink and Western Digital are ok, but IMHO, Imation's super slim disk (USB) beats all hands down. Its much too sleeker than all the rest (silver, 5 by 2.5 inches, and really slim + light!) and it transfers data just like an ordinary hard disk. Above all, on my Windows 2000 machine, I can unplug or plug it anytime..my OS recognizes it automatically! Very very useful stuff.

Summary: BUSlink's products are solid and their techsupport is great!
Review: BUSlink is FANTASTIC!! I bought a BUSlink drive and accidently saved some corrupt files that destroyed my drive. Tech support went above and beyond and not only saved my existing drives, but stored it in brand new drive at no Cost!!!! I'm definitely a customer for life, and the drive is running smoothly with no problems, it's the most positive customer experience I've ever had, Thanks!

Summary: Just the ticket
Review: Even though I have an 80gb hard drive on my PC, I have a ton of music that was taking up space I wish it didn't. The Buslink L40 is just what I needed. It may not be as fast as an internal harddrive, but it's just as fast other backups I've used. I may buy a couple more and create more space than I'll EVER need! Great price, great product.

Summary: BUSlink L40 Works Perfectly Fine
Review: I am not the most technically proficient person when it comes to computer peripherals, but I had absolutely no problems getting to work with this product.

The installation instructions literally occupy one small page, and consist of about seven steps. Installation essentially requires you to load a CD-ROM and follow the instructions to install the drivers; that takes about four minutes.

After that, it is literally plug and play.

Transfer speeds are surprisingly fast. I can transfer MP3s from my internal hard drive to the BUSlink in the same amount of time that it takes to transfer them from one directory to another within the internal hard drive.

I was slightly intimidated by the negative reviews this product received, but am happy I took the chance and gave it a shot.

Summary: Didn't work
Review: I bought this, installed the software over a dozen times, and it still wouldn't install. I called tech support four times in 2 hours & kept getting disconnected after holding for over 15 minutes each time. I then sent them an email demanding a call back right away, and they responded immediately. Tech support was very helpful, even though they weren't able to get it working on any of my computers.

Summary: BusLink Customer Service
Review: I have found BusLink Customer Service to be responsive, sometimes arrogant and not particularly helpful.
