Summary: Super storage
Review: An excellent hard drive at an excellent price; speedy, too. Incredibly easy to set up - a program such as Drive Copy is recommended for transfering the content of one HD to this new one.

Summary: Rebuttal of Electronic Enthusiast...
Review: I'd like to say that Maxtor makes very GOOD drives and has one of the best reputations when it comes to storage hardware. This particular drive here is okay, but in the long run will be too slow with its 5400 rpm speed. Make no mistake, Maxtor is a good company (read PC World reviews, etc. for proof); it's just that this particular drive isn't great: go for the UDMA 66 7200 rpm drives.

Summary: Maxtors crash? I don't think so.
Review: I've been hearing the "urban legend" for years about Maxtors, but I've used a bunch of them, and have never had one crash. I'd like to know if the poster above actually experienced a Maxtor crash, or is just regurgitating a rumor.

Summary: My experience with Maxtor has been good.
Review: I've used Maxtor hard drives in my business and home computers since 1991 and have had very good experiences with them. The 4 Gb Maxtor HD in my current home computer has given me no problems in three years and it replaced another Maxtor drive that's still in use in my daughter's machine.

Summary: The Maxtor brand is known for quality and reliabilty.
Review: Maxtor is one of the leading hard drive manufacturers in the U.S. They supply virutally every major PC manufacturer, including Dell, Compaq, Gateway, and IBM. I've had nothing but great luck with Maxtor. I've never had any reliability issues, and they have outstanding customer support.

Summary: Agreed...Maxtor no thanks!
Review: Price is not worth your data and time. Spend a little bit more and you will get something MUCH better.

Summary: Space and Speed
Review: This drive was perfect for my network server. I am using the drive as an on-line back-up device. You can't beat the Price Per GB, under $11.30! That's almost 1 Cent per MB! Plus, random access makes this a better option than tape for REAL TIME on-line back-up. If you have a sub 233MHz machine, this is a great choice. (be careful of BIOS limitations). Check out the Maxtor web site for a look at their high speed, high capacity drives. They have announced a 40.9GB drive and are shipping a 36GB. I guess that's why they call themselves MAXsTOReage!

Summary: About the best IDE HD
Review: This hast to be the best EIDE HD on the market. Not size-wise, but speed wise. This is a red hot hard drive! I really don't have anything to say bad about it yet. When ever Windows would crash my old hard drive would have an error or two. Not ONE on the Maxtor.

Summary: MAXTOR IS THE BEST
Review: This is a great drive at 33.3 and 5400 rpm. This is perfect for those that want additional space but don't want to pay for Ultra 66 drives and the card needed to run at those speed.

Summary: Maxtor is good
Review: This is a rebuttal of the folks at the bottom. i work in the IT industry and have used several Maxtor drives. They are still going strong and have been for at least a couple of years. Western Digital on the other hand, has given me all kinds of problems. My girlfriend's computer is on it fourth WD drive in a year and a half. I am on my second in 9 months. Western Digital costs more and gives less. Go with a Maxtor or Seagate.
