Summary: Speedy and Quiet
Review: Great drive that comes with a good reassuring warranty (3 years). This drive is connected to an Ultra ATA/100 disk controller in my PC, so the speed is excellent. That speed especially helps disk-intensive applications like CD burning and creating streaming video.

This disk spins at 7200 RPM...giving better performance than the 5400 RPM drives. You probably need to have an ATA/100 controller to get the maximum benefit of this drive.

The drive also has a two megabyte buffer which also contributes to its superior performance: reportedly less than 9 milliseconds average seek time.

I have two of these drives in my system. They are worry-free and pure pleasure.

Summary: Overall, I am very pleased
Review: I bought this hard drive from my friendly neighborhood CompUSA one year ago, when it was top of the line. I have to tell you, I am very happy with my purchase. To start, 60GB can accomidate almost anything for any user. Casual users will find the 60GB space storage helpful for their MP3s and other smaller applications. It will assure them that they won't have to upgrade for a long time. Power users, like your's truly, find the price to performance ratio on this 60GB hard drive quite astonishing. For the price, you will NOT find a more powerful and spaceous drive! I use my 60GB to hold all my games, backups, and my 12,000 MP3 collection. I have two other 100gb hard drives and one 200gb hard drive, all from maxtor, running with my 60gb. Just to make it short, I can assure you that I won't be in need of a new hard drive for a LONG TIME. This 60GB hard drive really does make the difference even for people like me.

Not only is it spaceous for just about anyone, but this thing is fast and efficient. Now, you may not suspect that a hard drive will really make much of a difference speed wise, but upgrading your RAM will usually not have much more of an effect than upgrading your hard drive if you choose wisely. This is an ATA drive, so that assures you extra speed. Running at 7200RPM, you know you are getting the almost-fastest out there. But I can tell you this: if you are upgrading from an SCSI hard drive, you are really going to appreciate this drive. It will give you quite a performance increase.

To conclude, this hard drive is spaceous, fast, will suite anyone's needs, all for a great price! It is a sinch to install as well! Go ahead and order this as soon as possible. You will not believe what difference you can make with a Maxtor hard drive!

Summary: Buying my second Maxtor 60 GB HD
Review: I guess the best thing I can say for this hard drive, and why I'm coming back to buy a second (back-up) drive, is that I've never really noticed my first one. It serves as my "DATA" drive of a 2-drive configuration. Now I want a back-up drive for DATA, so I'm getting another, identical version. What more can I say?

Summary: Maxtor is the best by FAR...Indestructable
Review: I have had this exact drive for about a year now. ZERO problems
I am always adding deleting reformating everything. I have totally beat on this drive more than any computer user. It is almost like i tried to destroy it any way i could but there really is not destroying this drive. When i first got it i even dropped it on a marble floor.(but i don't recommend this if you can help it) Didn't hurt it a bit. Maxtor is one company that has made a name for themselves by making dependable drives and they back it up with the product.

As a added bonus the installation instructions were simnple and easy to understand for a computer geek or novice. That is something that is very unusual for any computer product.

Summary: Maxtor 60 Gig 7200 RPM Review
Review: I have lotta Maxtor drives now and this is my 2nd 60 gig one. I also have a 40 gig one. This drive is very reliable and im quite harsh on my drives since I run a server 24/7 on my Maxtor hard drives, and constantly moving, deleting, and downloading files. Once my 60 gig got currupted and i was really scared but with a simple run on check disk utility (included in Windows OS), all was fixed with no data lost.

If yer wondering how much punishment i do on these drives, let's just say i download a minimum of 6 Gigs a day and at the same time also, constantly uploading. Im running most of these drives on Win2k OS and i want to say something about the other guy's review here about this drive running on Win2k....Yes, its kinda hard for this drive to install in Win2k...their install diskette can be quite troublesome...but all you need is to download the right driver for it and go to the Add/Remove hardware if Win2k can't detect this drive and do it yourself manually by installing the right driver.

Don't get me wrong... this drive is built tough & this 60 gig kickass when its on ATA/100 card (its even faster than my 40 gig!) Only problem on this drive sometimes is how you gonna install it. All in all, i reccomend this drive.

Summary: Excellent Drive!
Review: I selected this drive for the PC I was building and it works great. I've previously owned Western Digital, Quantum, and Maxtor drives.

The drive I received was a Quantum drive in the Maxtor box. This was fine with me for two reasons, 1.) I knew that Maxtor had purchased Quantum's HD unit, and 2.) My 6.4 GB Quantum Fireball is 5 years old and still works fine. Maxtor provides the warranty and support, but I thought the rebadging was something that potential buyers should be aware of.

Summary: Win2000 Users Beware!!!
Review: It took me too much work to get this drive up and running. I had problems with the EZ-BIOS installed with the enclosed software on my HP Vectra. I ended up having to reformat my first disk (loosing data) and reinstalling everything. That still didn't work well with the Win98 I had installed. Moving up to WinXP fixed everything, but for [$$$] and a good day's work more than I had planned.
Now that it's up & running it's performing well.

Summary: Big and fast!
Review: My own little performance tests show that this drive is 3 times faster than my old 6.4G Maxtor in moving files around and helps my computer boot up 30 seconds (22%) faster, and I'm still waiting to install the Maxtor ATA 100 card! Since my computer is only ATA 33, I'm expecting to see even more improvement.

My old Maxtor drive still works perfectly after 3 1/2 years, so I expect at least the same from this drive. I'll have to assume that it will in order to give it 5 stars...
