Summary: The Worst Tech Support I've Ever Encountered
Review: I bought this drive through Amazon.com, followed the instructions for connecting the drive to my Sony VAIO laptop, and installed the software. The Sony recognized the drive without any trouble. But during the installation process, I got an error message saying the process couldn't be completed because the drive could not be initialized.

I searched online at the CMS Web site for a solution but found none, so I called the number for tech support. Someone answered the phone but said that the tech support people weren't in yet and she would have them give me a call by noon that day. When I didn't hear from them by noon, I called myself. I waited on hold for over half an hour and had to hang up. Called again later and waited on hold for close to an hour (a long-distance call); finally, a tech support person picked up. I explained the situation, and he said I needed to download an updated driver specifically for laptops with memory sticks. He e-mailed me the driver, I downloaded it and followed all the instructions, and the software still didn't work. I immediately e-mailed the man who sent the driver to me, explaining the problem, and I never heard back. Then I went to the CMS Web site and filled out a request for tech support, and I never heard anything on that either.

The next day, I returned the drive to Amazon.com to get my money back, and I went to Staples and bought a Maxtor 80GB Hard drive, which was about $100 cheaper than the CMS product, and within 20 minutes, I had the drive set up and working.

I'll never buy another CMS product again.
