Summary: BUYER BEWARE - AC Adapter NOT included
Review: I got this drive for Christmas, and it works great when hooked up to my desktop PC. But the whole point of a drive like this is supposed to be portability. Unfortunately, when I hook it up to my laptop (Dell Latitude D600) via USB, I get an error message saying there is a "Power Surge" on my USB port. Apparently this thing requires more power than my laptop can mete out.

If you refer to the instructions, it says that if you have problems like this, you need to purchase an AC adapter. It's not included in the product. Now, check their website and you'll see they're charging $30 for the AC adapter, plus tax, plus a minimum of another $10 for shipping. This is highway robbery!

I will probably not be buying any future products from Smartdisk.

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: Received Firelite portable as a gift and while it worked on my Mac G5 desktop it didn't work on either a Toshiba notebook or Apple Powerbook. This has to be more then a coincedence since a similar drive by CMS works perfectly on all three machines without the need for an adaptor. The support offered by the Smartdisk site did not resolve the problem.

Summary: Quick and Easy
Review: This drive is very portable and quickly adds on a good amount of storage. Although it only spins at 4200 RPMs, it's high speed connection is good and it's hard to notice is slow unless you are filling the drive in one shot. Since this is USB powered, it's makes it very travel friendly and I can breath a sigh of relief that I know where all my data is. It comes with a PS2 power option as well. Nice job SmartDisk.
