Summary: Very Problematic
Review: Unlike the other USB drives that I own, this one is full of problems. It will not transfer files without corruption, even between two computers running XP and using USB 2.0 ports. I tried the same transfer using a different USB drive, and it worked fine. The problem is definitely with this particular drive, and I would not recommend wasting your money.

Summary: not reliable, do not buy it.
Review: I bought one from OD on March 2004, the cap was broken after two month, the drive stopped working on Aug.

for cap, it is free to get a new one
for drive, you have to sent it back at your own expense, and get a refurbished one.

the cap is poorly designed, very easy to be broken
drive get warm when use it. my kingston never get warm.
the important thing, it is not reliable.

Summary: Works for me.
Review: I had a bit of trouble getting the drive to be recognized on some of the older PCs at work but soon figured that out.

It takes some getting used to but I now use it all the time to transfer the data I used to carry on floppies and some CDs.

If you can't get it to work for you, stick to floppies!

Summary: Key chain part broke off
Review: I had bought the 128 mb model which is the same case as the 256 mb. It worked just fine as a memory device but the key chain part broke off after 3 month. I know that putting anything on a keychain that is carried in a pocket causes extra stress on the keychain dodads. The Memorex USB drive couldn't take it. The plastic part that held the key ring broke. If you don't carry this is your pocket with keys it should be fine. Not sturdy enough

Summary: among the best jumps
Review: I have two of these memorex jumps "thumbdrive." Both have worked fine and taken a lot of abuse as well!
To the reveiwer below who had trouble with their USB, perhaps you a a newbie. I suggest you check your machine. I have used a dozen different brands (memorex, sandisk, lexar, etc) and never had trouble with a single one or machine pc or mac, usb 1, 1.2 or 2.0 and any drive. perhaps you twisted it while taking it out.

In any case memorex support is great, I had one drive I crushed in a door (my fault and a strong enough impact to also destroy may car alarm gizmo) and they sent me a new one! I have had otehr brands (ironically the lexar "sport"), where the keychain holder broke, memorex is actually more study than most)

Memorex jumps are also true usb 2.0 and there are a few cheap ones that aren't.

Summary: Great stuff!
Review: I love this gizmo! Plug it in and go. No software to worry about, no formatting. Looks to Windows like another disk drive. Took about 6-7 minutes to write a 222MB file. Great portability!

Summary: GREAT PRODUCT
Review: I purchased this usb flash drive today. I have windows 98 and I installed the driver that came with it. It took one second. I plugged the drive into my powered usb hubb. When the computer re-booted, it found the new device and installed it and created a removable drive G. That was it. I was supprised to see how fast it transferred files. This is a great way to back up important files, too. Since they come with 500mb or 1 gb I think I will purchase one more and replace the zip drive.
I am very happy with this product.

Summary: This is the future of portable data.
Review: I'm a digital designer by trade, so I am always packing around a folder of CD's and ZIP disks going from the office to class and then home again. Whenever I needed to make a presentation, I'd burn a CD. Sometimes I would burn a 3Mb presentation on a 700Mb CD, and it always seemed like such a waste. When I would go to class, I'd carry a ZIP or burn a CD. I usually used CD's because I didn't always know if there was going to be a ZIP drive available. But now, everything has changed. I bought a Thumb Drive. I love this little gadget! I have Windows XP on my laptop, and Windows ME on my desktop. At the college, everything is Macintosh, so I was worried that any portable data device that I would purchase would need to be cross-platform. Well, I am completely thrilled with my Thumb Drive. I didn't need to install drivers on any of the machines I use. These include machines running Windows ME, XP and Mac OS9 and OSX! I have a 15Gb Archos portable hard-drive, but drivers need to be installed on the computer for it to recognize the drive. Not the Thumb Drive, it needs no drivers! As soon as it's plugged into the machine, the OS instantly recognizes the drive and I can drag-and-drop files. Since it's a USB port, it's reasonably fast, and so far I haven't had any trouble. I've been using it for about two weeks straight. I've transferred files to and from computers at work, college, and from my laptop to my desktop. Also, I've taken it when I visited family and was able to transfer all of my digital photographs from the Easter holiday to my aunt's computer in a mere minute. Also, there is a tiny little switch on the end of the device that allows me to secure the data and prevent accidental deletion or over-write.
I remember when I was amazed that a ZIP disk held 100 Mb and that it was only about 4" square. The Thumb Drive is so much smaller, and has 2½ times the storage space! *sniff* Makes me all teary-eyed. I love a new gadget that is actually this useful! I can't really say anything bad about this item. My only concern is that the plastic cap might become worn over time (or break), and that I might have to start carrying it in my pocket instead of on my key chain. But that is so minor, I hate to mention it. It's very rare for me to find a product that meets it's intended goal so well. I am very pleased with this device. Now, if they could only make one this size that's a full Gig and has one of those super fast USB2 ports...hmmmmm.

Summary: Don't bother...
Review: The compact size was attractive, but compared to competitive products (Gizmo, DiskOnKey, etc), the design and build quality are shoddy and the price is too high. More importantly, EVERY single file I copied to the ThumbDrive was corrupted, and the file system was unrecognized more often than not, regardless of the chosen format. I wish I would have read the reivews elsewhere first, but at least there was a no-questions-asked return policy.

Summary: Worst Flash Drive to buy
Review: This is the worst flash drive ever someone can buy. I bought two of them for my personal use and both of them failed to work between USB2.0 and USB1.1. I've two computers at my home with one being USB2.0 and the other one being USB1.1. This flash drive miserably failed to work. Every time, I switch between the USB systems, the flash drive would have to be formatted.

This is more nuisance then ever.

I would never by a flash drive from Memorex ever in my life and I would certainly inform my friends about the same.
