Summary: Truly elegant!!!!
Review: The iPod is the most elegant piece of electronic equipment I have ever used. It is incredibly functional and very, very cool looking!! I transferred 3.5 gigs of music and almost of gig of data in less than five minutes - firewire makes a huge difference in connectivity times. I am able to get between 8 and 9 hours on a charge - very nice. A couple of extras are needed - a case is a must - Apple should have included one - I also needed a pair of headphones - I don't like earbuds and the ones supplied with the iPod are too large for my ears. If you want a music player and firewire hard drive, the iPod can't be beat. Plus the wow factor when you pull the iPod out in public makes one proud to be a Mac user.

Summary: Great product ...with one major flaw
Review: I have had my ipod for about 3months now and i love it. It is my constant companion. It is by far the best mp3 player on the market, and well worth every penny. One glaring flaw is that it lacks a bookmark feature, if you like listening to books this is very aggravating. Having to find where you left of wastes about 2-5 minutes and is VERY ANNOYING. In short good for music, good as a fire wire drive, Bad for audio books. At least till Apple adds a bookmarking feature.

Review: I got one for my birthday, they are great! I don't think i'll ever fill up the 5GB hard drive. The firewire port downloads songs instantly - an album in under 10 seconds! It is easy to use and has long battery life. All this and it doubles as a hard drive so you can store things on it and take them off on another computer...

Summary: iPod rocks Windows with xPlay
Review: I've just got my iPod and have been playing with it non-stop for the last week. This product is a 10! There is currently nothing I don't like about it, it's the easiest, most intuitive, most useful portable music device that I've ever seen. All this and I'm running Windows! I'm using the xPlay (version 5) trial software and have been thrilled at the way the iPod works with Windows. It doesn't automatically sync up w/o iTunes, but I'm not sure that's a disadvantage--I don't think I want my mp3 player to reflect any changes to my hard drive everytime that I sync up--I'd rather select what to add. It's also slower with Windows than with a Mac. A CD takes between 30-45 seconds to download, rather than the 10 seconds that Apple claims. That being said, the time consuming part of the process is burning the MP3s onto your hardrive in the first place, not transfering them. If you are doing something normal like adding three or four albums at a time (rather than changing every song on your iPod) you'll be done in under three minutes. If you have Windows and and have coveted one of these things, go for it! The xPlay system works very well and brings iPod to Windows.

Summary: Best birthday present ever (except for my yellow lab puppy).
Review: I just got an iPod and am thrilled with it! I love music, have always made my own tapes, cds, etc since...forever. The positive comments already posted sum things up well. But, about the equalizer critique- the iTunes software allows you to custom equalize songs, then you transfer them already done, with no effort at all. iTunes is so simple, it's all drag and drop. Then from your computer to iPod, to new transfer music, change or rearrange playlists, it's just like hot syncing a PDA but even quicker due to Firewire, not USB. I rearrange my skiing and running playlist often to keep my tunes fresh, it's great. I use a behind the ears, Phillips headphone with it during sports that I got from the Target store at Amazon for [money] and the setup makes me happy! PC folks, it's time to get one of these. BTW, if you like it, you might just drift over to see the new iMac sometime and see how it handles digital photos and movies. No, I don't work for Apple, but their technology is the Lamborghini or Ferrari of the creative computer world. The iPod is amazing - s'wonderful, marvelous!

Summary: Perfect companion
Review: I'm a music student and before I got the iPod, I had to carry a ton of CD's everytime I had to go to school. Now, this tiny package carries everything for me. I have 455 songs already in it and I haven't reached half-capacity yet. The included earphones aren't that good, though...I suggest you buy a good pair. The backlight is perfect and being able to function as a removeable hard drive, nothing can even come close to this. I can carry all the tunes that I want and bring all my documents and projects in it. Oh yeah, before I forget, there's also an included game. It's kinda secret, so just figure it out guys. Half of the fun is figuring out how to get the game.

Summary: An MP3 Player with No Equal...
Review: This stunningly beautiful piece of technology redefines the MP3 player in functionality, speed, design, and build quality. I am also an owner of the Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox. Because of my displeasure with that product, I recently became an iPod owner. Having been a Mac user for some time, I have come to appreciate the simplicity and ease of use built into Apple products. Newer Mac products also have a beauty and tactile quality that is unmatched. The iPod is no exception. One of my major complaints with the Nomad is speed in accessing tracks and settings (even changing the sound volume) when utilizing the user interface. The iPod is lightning fast and extrememly intuitive. Sound quality is superb with or without the included headphones. Also, using USB to transport 1000+ songs takes hours where the iPod's firewire takes minutes. The way this device integrates with iTunes 2 is also excellent. In a matter of minutes I had the unit out of the box and loaded with songs - all without so much as a glance at a user manual. Again, it is so intuitive and easy to use that it is nearly second nature. All I ask is WHY THE MIRROR-FINISH CHROME ON THE BACK? That I cannot understand. Unfortunately, I am of the type that is very fastidious about smudges and marks so it drives me somewhat crazy. For $(...) a case would have been nice as well. There are some lovely cases available out there, however. All in all this unit is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a top of the line MP3 player. You will not be dissapointed.

Summary: The best thing I have bought for my computer
Review: This is by far the coolest gadget my computer has seen. The battery life is 10 hours which is plenty time, and the 5 gig hard drive has plenty of room to hold all of my songs. I had trouble filling the whole thing up. Like always Mac did not skimp on the OS. It is clean and simple. I would recomend this to anyone in school or wants to listen to music while working out, it is great for that too.

Summary: iPod CAN work with the PC
Review: Just to set the record straight, you *CAN* get the iPod to work with a PC. A company by the name of MediaFour is currently writing the drivers to do this, and they have a public preview available for use on their website...Hope this helps anyone who is thinking it's impossible to use the iPod with a PC. I only rated this 4/5 stars because this player, albeit small, lightweight, and user-friendly, does not have the capability to record and also had no native support for the PC. In my opinion apple could have sold a bazillion of these things had they released it with native support for the PC, but it's all about the apple loyalty, I guess.

Summary: Great Mp3 player
Review: This mp3 players is simply the best. It holds 1000 hours of music (5 b) which is probaly your entire music collection. It has a stainless steel back and and the front is protected by a piece of thick, hard plastic. The only thing exposed is the controls so this mp3 players will take a good beating before anything actually happens to the internal workings of the player. Besides the durability the navigation is exellent. You can find songs by artist, by song name, by album, or even by your own playlist. Also the battery lasts a very long time (about 10 hours) and automatially starts charging as soon as plug it into your computer, so you can transfer songs and charge the ipod at the same time. Of course if your not by a computer you can always charge it from a wall outlet. The battery only takes about an hour to charge. Another "cool" feature of the ipod is that you can use it as a external, portable firewire hardrive so that you can store or transfer your files. I have had the ipod for almost 2 months now and I would say that this is by far the best mp3 player on the market if you have a mac.
