Summary: Great storage capacity
Review: 10 gigabytes is probably more than you need to store all of your music, so unless you have an incredibly huge collection, the studio 10 is sufficient. This player has great options for playback, and the file system works well. However there are quite a few bugs in the OS, even though I downloaded the most recent version. The supplied computer software is pretty lame, I must say. I bought this player because I though I would put all of my music from CD onto mp3, but I find that I don't use it often. Playing a CD always has better quality, unless you encode at some huge bitrate. Also, the USB connection takes its time. One great feature is the audio out, so you can attach it to a sound system. The rechargeable batteries are great. There's a line in as well, but that is completely pointless since you cant record mp3s. I also thought people would be intrigued by the player, but a lot of people I know confused it with a tape player when they first saw it. If you want to buy this because you dont want to lug around all your CD's, and if you dont mind slightly [worse] quality, go ahead and buy it.

Summary: Great player
Review: I just bought one of these ...and it is great. I got it working with all of my computers with no problem, even under Linux. (you need usb-storage and scsi disk, plus the usb host controler, and their requirements (usb support and scsi support) Then just mount /dev/sda1 somewhere. (thats if you dont have any other scsi stuff).) Sound quality is great, and I was able to fit my entire mp3 collection (admittedly not very big) on it. I decided on a 10 gig unit because my mp3 collection is too big to fit on one of the solid-state players, but it is doubtful that I will be able to fill up the 10 gig. My collection at the moment is about 1.7 GiB. The only complaint I have is that the headphones are uncomfortable. I will probably replace them ASAP.

Review: I work on computer in my profession so I know a good product when I see one, and believe me this definetly is one. I only had 2 minor problems with this player, first the instructions to install the drivers for Windows 2000 were incorrect, and you have to search through their site to get the proper ones that include the drivers, second the transfer rate to it is slow, i don't know if it was my cable or what but to transfer a CD to it it takes about 35 minutes, where as most other players are much faster. This is definetly a mp3 player and I would recommend it to anyone, but I don't know if it is a great way to back up data.

Summary: A Little Sensitive and Quirky, but Who isn't?
Review: I have owned the Studio 10 for about a month now - during this period I have used the player a lot and have gotten comfortable with the controls. Overall, I am very please with my purchase and can highly recommend this player.Positives
-Tons of space - size DOES matter(I own a lot of music, and have only used about 4G of the 10G available)
-Easy to use (after you learn the controls)
-Very easy to upload music (click and drag over a USB cable)
-Sounds great (using my own headphones) -Durable, so far (I use it while exercising)
-Use of Playlists offers a lot of listening flexibility
-Multiple play modes - single, repeat, shuffle Minor nuisances:
-MP3 Only, requiring conversion of all CD's to MP3 - a long process when you have a lot of CD's
-A little Quirky and sensitive - it sometimes Powers Off if you push too many buttons too fast.
-Battery Life was short at first - less than an hour - it has seemed to improve as time goes on. At first I thought I had a bum battery, but I no longer have any problems, and the battery has lasted several hours without a problem
-Headphones - throw them out The Manual was OK, but as recommended by other reviewers on this site, go to the Archos Web Site, under Technical Support, and read - this site gives tips on Playlist creation, Folder set-up,and a bunch of other important issues. The FAQ section is also helpful. I researched a lot of systems before plopping down my money on this one - I was on the fence between this, the RIO Riot, and the D-Link Roq-It. I think I made the right choice.

Summary: The Perfect MP3 Player!
Review: The archos mp3 player gives everything it promises, and is the perfect mp3 player for the average music listener. When I first started looking for an mp3 player, I was wondering what size hard drive I should get. The big choice was between 20 gigs and 10 gigs. After getting the 10gb player, I'm happy I did. I have 153 cd's, and as of now all of them are on this player. Better Yet, I still have a TON of room left! If you feel that you have more than 2,500 songs that you must carry around with you at all times, then go for the 20gb player, but personally I feel that 10 gigs is more than enough.
The machine itself is very well built. It has a solid and durable feel to it. While the headphones are big, ugly, and sound terrible, the rest of the package is great. It should be noted that this is not the best player if you will be using it while jogging or working out. While taking it out on a jog one day, the thing had many disc errors. Once I took it out of my pocked and held it, I received no more errors. If you are looking for a good portable music player made for running and such, I would highly recommend one of Sony's fabulous minidisc players. The user interface on the system works better than I ever would have expected. Very easy to use, and the small screen doesn't effect the performance at all. While the manual provided wasn't the greatest ever, I didn't think it was as bad as many of the other reviewers thought. One tip if you do buy this player...When using playlists, make sure that they are in a folder where all of the songs from the playlist are in. Playlists aren't covered in the manual and are very confusing. Overall, I highly recommend this player. It has a great build, is extremely easy to use, and has great sound. All of the shortcomings pointed out in other reviews (No volume or hold button) are miniscule, as both of those options are available with two button clicks. In my opinion, the biggest flaw is that you cannot browse through the music folders while a song is playing. Besides that very minor gripe, this player gets 2 thumbs up!

Summary: Consider the Archos "Recorder" Line Instead
Review: I bought the "Studio 10" before understanding the Archos product lines. All their disk-based MP3 players look alike from a distance but there are some significant differences... The "Recorder" line has significant improvements in the LCD display (8 lines vs 2, this makes a huge difference), file navigation and manipulation (menu keys, dedicated on/off buttons), audio output quality, USB 2.0 support ("Recorder 20" only, I believe). The "Recorder" line can also record MP3s via built-in or external mic, but even if you don't plan on recording much the playback advantages of the "Recorder" line are definitely worth the extra money. Firmware updates are available from Archos website, so be sure to upgrade your player after purchasing. I know this is more a review of the "Recorder" and not the "Studio", but it's important to know that a better Archos player is available.

Summary: I love the size and the hard drive, however...
Review: I love that the size of this hard drive player is so small. Though it is only 10gb, I fit my entire cd collection with more than half of the space remaining. So for me the amount of disk space does not matter. The sound quality is good, and I really like the size. There are only two reasons why I would not give this player a 5. One is because I feel the screen is really small for it to hold 10gb of music. It should be bigger so you can see more music. Also I think that buttons are a little flimsy. For 200 bucks, you should at least get a player with less flimsy buttons. This is a great player and definitley worth the money if you don't mind the downsides.

Summary: Better than expected
Review: I just got this product yesterday, and I am already using it. It's extremely easy to use. Before this I have had regular CD players, mp3-CD players, and small 64mb flash mp3 players, but this beats them all. It's very small, and everyone saying it's large must not know a thing about mp3 players because if you want your storage space measured in GB and not MB, it's gonna be kinda large and heavy. Every HD mp3 player I've seen uses laptop drives. The headphones are awful, awful bass, and they don't fit very well, but that's to be expected, because no company gives you decent headphones with their product, so you have to buy new ones : )! I haven't seen how long the batteries last, but I'm sure they're fine. If given the choice, I would get this product again.

Summary: Almost Perfect!
Review: I recently bought the jukebox for a very affordable price. I was very excited to use it when I got home. After charging through the night, I loaded all of my songs onto it (about 500 songs. Not even kidding, the transfer took no time at all!!! Using a simple drag and drop, it was amazingly easy. But little did I know that my jukebox was defective... It didn't display all of the necessary features on the screen and the volume was high. I contacted Archos and was told to exchange it. I did, and my second jukebox was 100% perfect. It works amazingly - The sound quality beats anything esle, it's very stylish, and A LOT SMALLER THAN YOU THINK! It's very easy to use and transfering music is great. The amount of songs you can hold is terrific! You'll always have enough room for amazing amounts of both audio and video! There were only a few things that I didn't like about the jukebox. To start off, the included manuel wasn't too helpful. But with the help of Archos and simple computer knowledge, I managed to get through set up easily. Second of all, the headphones are not very comfortable, but that is no reason to dislike the jukebox itself. My third dislike was the fact that the songs transfered to the jukebox are automatically listed alphabeticly. The only way that I could get past this dilemma so I could make my own playlist was the following. When you drag and drop songs from your music folder to the jukebox drive, rename the file to the # spot you want the song to be at. For example if your file is "Without Me - Eminem" and you want that to be the first song, just rename it to "01 - Without Me - Eminem". On the jukebox, the song won't come up with the "01" part, just the title. Overall, I totally suggest this jukebox to anyone looking for one. It serves as both a great MP3 player and a great hard drive. BUY IT!!! IT'S WORTH IT!
