Summary: Worked better than expected
Review: (...) I create short videos for myself and other members of my family. Weddings, birthday parties, vacations... Give me a tape and I'll edit it. I goofed around with VCD/SVCD at first and wasn't happy with the compatability issues and picture loss. I then started having to distribute my work on VHS which while 100% compatible wasn't optimal since I consider my work keepsakes and you know how VHS tapes tend to wear out. So I was a little hesitant when I burnt my first disk (Using Ulead Movie Factory). Would it play on my dvd players and those of my family? I can happily report that the answer is yes. The 1 hour DVD that I created has played on a 3 year old Panasonic A110, Panasonic A120, Samsung M310, Microsoft XBox and Sony Playstation2. I couldn't be happier with the results and with the cost of media coming down I can realistically send copies of my work on DVD to those that might have received VHS in the past.

Summary: Good Hardware, Bad software
Review: I'm not sure if it was just me, but product I recieved seemed used. The seal was loose, the installation cd smeared and scratched, and the drive's edges where chipped from installation. I don't know if this was a QPS return, or a Amazon return, but it sure was opened.

As far as the product goes, the hardware functions well. Plays DVD's fine, burns Data dvd's and Movie dvd's well. The movie dvd's play in the Xbox, which is says alot. I have tried the disc in many different DVD players and they read without a problem.

My complaint will be with the software. It comes bundled with software to allow for Backup, DVD authoring and playing. None of the software worked on my configuration. I instead had to download comparable, or updated software off the web. NeoDVD seems to have a common problem during installation, that is even listed on the qps-inc website. "if you recieve error 2555 call this number" Well that number was out of service. The backup software never could read the dvds so I downloaded the latest version, as a TRIAL. It seems I will have to fork over more money to get it to work.

In conclusion, the software is not there, the hardware is fine.

Summary: Works well. Dvd-R is great
Review: The software didnt work, let me get this out first. I mean none of the software worked. I have downloaded a good bit of trial software and the burner works like a champ. The movies work in an XBOX, a 2 year old HP laptop, and a few others. Very happy with the hardware, not sure what was up with the software.

I can say that the software it comes with for backup is good, as I download it from the main site. As far as the movie authoring software, I was not satisified with the download. I reccomend dvd software from Ulead, or Pinnacle.
