Rating: Summary: Great Product Review: It's fast, easy to install and the noise level is about the same as a read only drive. I have never seen the buffer drop below 100%. With the rebate, it's a steal. This is a wonderful drive.
Rating: Summary: Works great Review: I installed the Yamaha 2100EZ in an IBM Aptiva 350. The drive installed easily, Adaptec software installed easily and works fine. Rips very fast, averaging about 35x. Records at about 16x, and rerecords at about 8x using 10x media. I'm happy with it. Be sure to download rip software off of Yamaha web site.
Rating: Summary: It never worked out of the box.......... Review: I installed the drive in a 2.5 year old Aptiva system, a standard one at that. The drive had no sound through the system, nor when I plugged the speaker cable directly into front of drive. I tried at least burning a few discs and it only sporadically completed, failed the rest of the time. After an hour and a half on the phone with Yahama service rep I threw in the towel and have returned the item. 'nuf said.
Rating: Summary: Awesome, great value Review: Installation of hardware and software easy. This thing is awesome and quick. Burned my first CD 16x with no problems. For those who read the messages about the noise, you'll have to disregard them. I'm used to a Plextor burner, and that thing is twice as loud as the yamaha. I was burning with the case still off (I was so excited to start burning) and there was nothing out of the ordinary. C'mon people, it's a machine spinning around using a laser, it's not going to be silent....
Rating: Summary: Excellent drive Review: After ordering this drive I read some of the reviews and was a little concerned, but this was unfounded. Following the instruction with the drive I had it installed and burning at 16x in about 10 minutes and have not made a single coaster yet. This is an excellent drive and I highly recomend it!
Rating: Summary: Easy setup and works great! Review: I was cautious in purchasing this drive. I have read some bad reviews with problems this drive had with making coasters. Reading more details about the bad reviews, a lot of the coaster problems related to slow hard drive's or slow CD-Rom drives as the master drive. I have a very slow CD-Rom drive, its only 4x, so all the copies I have made, I have transfered the data to the hard drive then to a CD-R. With this drive being a 40x read this doesnt take much time at all. I have successfully copied music CD's as well. I have been using this drive for two weeks now and love it. If you have a fairly fast computer with a good hard drive as well as a CD Rom drive that is as fast read speed or faster than this CD-R This may be a good choice for you. My system specs are.. My next purchase for my computer is going to be a faster CD-Rom Drive!

Rating: Summary: Not too bad at all... Review: I have had good success thus far with this burner. It is indeed fast, burning at 16x no problem. Though I had nothing but trouble with the adaptec software that shipped with it -- could not burn a thing, so I uninstalled it and went with Nero and haven't had a major problem since. With the rebate, this is definitely a good deal.
Rating: Summary: Great Drive!! Review: I actually ordered the CRW2100EZ before I read the reviews, so I was thinking maybe I made a mistake. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It worked great right out of the box. It's very FAST and contrary to popular belief, it's very quiet while writing. They must have made some improvements since some of you bought yours. I would recommend it very highly.
Rating: Summary: A Great CD-RW Review: I've got this CD-RW for three days, tried buring data from hard drive, music from hard drive and music from CD-ROM. My doubts (came from viewing all the negative reviews and the discount) all went away. I'm so happy about the speed, easy to use and quality. Everything was correct the first round. I have Celeron 400, 96M memory, 4.3G hard drive and 40X Lite-On CDROM. My suggestion to people who are gonna to try this product is be very careful in following the installation menu, especially the Master/Slave setting. Everything else will be a breeze. The only detour I will have to take in the future is copy music CD from CDROM to CD-RW, because my 40X CDROM has only 2x DAE causing the writing speed be only 2x. I had to take advantage of 40X audio extration speed of this CD-RW to write to hard disk first and then take adventage of 16X speed write to CD. It's much faster this way. The media I was using was TDK 16X CD-R/800M/70min. burned 5 already, no problem.Hope everyone enjoys the great product with great price.
Rating: Summary: Nano Review: I purchased the Yamaha's CRW2100EZ Lightspeed 16X10X40 Internal EIDE CDRW Kit for my Dell computer. As someone new to CD-R/RW drives, I found the installation to be easy. I just followed the documentation with no trouble. As the other reviews pointed out, the CRW2100ES is a wee bit noisy, but for the price, I can live with it. I found the Yamaha's CRW2100EZ Lightspeed 16X10X40 Internal EIDE CDRW Kit to be fast. About 4 minutes to copy files to the CD-R disk. I was disappoint to learn that I needed to by software from a third part vendor, so I could backup my entire C drive. I think some sort of disk imaging software sould be included. All-in-all, I am satified with my purchase. Out of 5, I give the Yamaha's CRW2100EZ Lightspeed 16X10X40 Internal EIDE CDRW Kit a score of 3 1/2 disks.
