Summary: SWEET!
Review: I've long considered HP drives to be better than Plextor when it comes to bundled extras, and fairly close in terms of performance. The 9710i is "Exhibit A" for my case. I have had no buffer problems with this drive, even on disc-to-disc copies on the same IDE cable, and (unlike a few similar products) the drive does not whirr and shake when operating at high speeds. System requirements are a little steep, but if your computer shipped with Windows ME or 2000 on it, then you can probably handle it.

The software seals the deal: you get HP's MyCD, which is so simple that even a toddler can copy a CD with it, and the familiar Adaptec packages for more customization. Additionally, you get MusicMatch, some audio editing stuff, a good backup program, and one of those CD labeler thingies which I'll get around to playing with one of these days.

The price is right, the quality is high, and it's twice as fast as most burners on the market. You want this.

Summary: Easiest Burner Ever
Review: The only way to describe this burner is easy. The installation is relativly easy for anyone, and the HP software included with the drive makes burning CD's as simple as two clicks of the mouse. But outside of the easy use for beginners, the drive is incredibly fast, and hasn't burnt a single coaster in the 6 months i've had it. That includes using generic, none labeled disks i found on clearance without a problem. The software that comes packaged (outside of the actual HP Software) is also great. A great burner for a great price.
