Summary: A really cool burner
Review: I highly recommend this cdrw. Very simple and easy installation. The included software shows you step by step on how to do the installation if you are new to cd-rom installation. I'm really good though. Anyway, Definitely, if you are looking for a new cdrw drive, check this one out. Oh yeah, It's great because its compatible with most cd-r disks other than faster drives that you have to slow down.

Summary: 5 Star Product
Review: I've recently purchased a Philips PCRW1208 CD-RW Drive and I have to give top marks to Philips for producing an outstanding CD-RW Drive. Installing the drive was easy and the software supplied with it was a delight to use. There's even a freephone number to use if you need help.

Summary: never buy it if you do not want to waste your money and time
Review: not even an one star product - a third class product from a first class company(!). It worked initially in Windows 98SE. But once I tried XP - problem started - the customer service seems to be from North Pole - worthless and rude. After weeks hardwork - it suddenly started working again before gone dead for ever (within one and half years of slow bad performance).

Summary: Burner works OK and DIES after 2 years
Review: This burner was my first burner and it worked fine for the few times that I used it. I was unable to get it to interact with the existing CDROM drive in ny computer though. Sometimes it didn't like to burn onto CDR media and I don't know why. Now, after about 2 years, it had DIED. Right now it is detected by windows 98, showing up in Device Manager and a drive letter does appear in Windows Explorer. The strange thing is that I cannot get the stupid thing to recognize a disk, either normal CD or anything. The activity light constantly blinks and it does not read the disks and when a disk has been placed the drive DOES NOT OPEN up again. You cannot get it to open to retrieve the disk until the computer is rebooted.

I do NOT recommend this drive unless you want to buy a new drive every two years. and the $70+ price i saw on this website is pathetic and highway robbery.

Thanks.

Summary: Bad Choice
Review: This CD burner worked for about 4 burns and then just died. It won't even read a CD. I think the laser is messed up. I'm going to take it back. Don't buy this one folks or do and see if you have a better experience than I did.

Summary: Very User Friendly!
Review: This internal drive is very user fiendly. I record a lot of MP3 files and the software is easy to use. It is also pretty quick. I did have a problem installing it but I called the 800# and the customer service people at Philips were very helpful and had my problem solved in about 5 minutes. It is hard to find products these days that have any customer support but Amazon and Philips offer just that!

Summary: Great Unit!
Review: This is my first CD-RW. It isn't the fastest but I was looking for a value. I had it up and running on the first boot. I used the included Adaptec Easy CD Creator software and had my first music CD completed within an hour of opening the box. It burned 12 tracks in about 15 minutes. The only minor glitch was the included installation CD failed to load. I don't know what is on it because I didn't need to use it. All in all I am extremely happy with it and can recommend it highly.

Summary: Good Price/Performance pick
Review: This isn't a peripheral I plan to use every day.. Like most personal users, I just need a good permanent method of backing up pictures, audio and other important files and keeping my hard drive from getting full. I installed it in 5 minutes and the software worked nicely. I'm sure it's not the fastest, but at [dollar amount], how could I lose?
It was easy and worked just fine!

Summary: Best used as recycle waste!
Review: Well, It worked "OK" for about a year. All of the sudden it stopped working after the warranty was completed. Did not work well with virus software installed and never create CD-ROMs at the max speed. Overheated and crash the computer several times before it completely died. Buy something else!!!!!!
