Summary: Great for making coasters!
Review: As a coaster maker I give this unit 5 stars......heck 6 stars, but as a CD burner I'd give it zero stars if I could. Even on a fast machine with plenty of memory you get numerous buffer underruns and you get them almost everytime. I've tried all the best burner software from Roxio to Nero and have tried it in 3 computers and only 1 of the 3 computers did it even work half of the time.

All in all a very shotty unit and not what I'd expect from the company that invented the CD-Rom!

As Uncle Jed would say........"pitful....jest pitiful"

Summary: Problems here!
Review: CD Burner was working great. Give it about a month and the burner will not recognize any of your cd's. I thought it was the software I was using, so I got rid of the Adaptec Burning Software that came with it and installed Nero. Same problem! Tried to reinstall the drivers. Still nothing there. I thought it might be the OS so I changed from Windows 2000 to XP. Same Problem! So installed the old Windows 98. Same problem. I guess i get what I paid for. Cheap price cheap product.

Summary: I love the burner
Review: Contrary to a recent review on "December 19, 2001 " I just burnt 700 Mb of data on a 80 min CD and it worked great.
Audio CD's are the same. It workes great for me , installation was a piece of cake.
I have a 350 P2 processor and I am thankfully having no problems with it.

Summary: Good pick
Review: For the price I paid this model is a must have. The technology is there and a software package is there also. Burn Proof technology is a must.

Summary: great value
Review: great value; took me 15 minutes to install; only issue was it asked for CD # 2 which is the cd creator software which isn't really labled CD #2. Other than that the hardware was easy to install into a dell computer, software worked great. I was playing a CD after about 30 minutes. Not the fastest burner but works great and easy to use (great price!).

Summary: Displeasure with Phillips
Review: I am very displeased with the Philips CD-RW. The installation was very simple. However, I burned 12 CD's the first night and I've gotten errors ever since. I contacted Technical Assistance and they informed that the burner DOES NOT support 80 minutes CD's, contrary to the Philips information. I returned the burner.

Summary: Great burner, but missing software and package list
Review: I have recently installed this burner and it works great. The only problem I had was that the installation disk asked for "Disk 2", unfortunately no disk 2 was provided. There is also no packing list which I think is a good idea for all manufacturers. Even without disk 2, everything works fine and I am writing to Philips about it. Unfortunately you can't download the software from Philips website yet. I would still highly recommend this drive. I think that is the only problem with a lot of Philips stuff, their website doesn't provide enough self help.
