Summary: The Best CD-RW Under 200 Dollars!
Review: I remember when this product first came out, reading reviews of it on-line and in magazines. Plextor decided to drop the price of it, and I had to pick it up. For the price you couldn't get a better CD-RW on the market today. I haven't had a bad CD yet and the software with the program is very easy to use. An excellent addition to anyone's PC.

Summary: Plextor Delivers
Review: I was in the market for a drive that was easy to use, reliable, with user friendly software. Easy installation would be nice, too. After researching the CDR/RW drives available, it appeared that Plextor offered the best bang for the buck in those categories. I decided to take the chance. It was only a few days after ordering on-line that the drive arrived. From opening the box to start up was about 1 hour. Installing the drive with Win98 was a breeze. Sufficient power and ribbon cable was available in my computer. So, I really didn't need the ribbon cable that came with the drive. Would have liked to have had an extra audio cable, though. Software installation went off without a hitch, too. I used the new Plextor drive to install the software. Plextor also includes a blank CD R and CD RW in the box. It took me about 10 minutes to burn an audio cd with 11 songs. It took about 8 minutes to format the CD RW. Once formatted, tho, it was a snap to drag and drop data files to the disk. So far, the Plextor drive does everything that it said it would do. And does it quietly. I am very pleased with the drive and heartily recommend it.

Summary: Something that is possible...
Review: I bought this CD-RW a month ago and I was quite fasinated at the ablilty of this writer. One thing for sure is that the burn-proof system is done so well that I am able to burn music CDs at *12, but there is no problem in the sound whatsoever. It's a pretty good buy for such a writer at such a good price.

Summary: Fast and Accurate in Ripping and Recording
Review: I've never had a drive that ripped digital audio so quickly or recorded at the full rated speeds (12X and 10X) without making mistakes. I don't work for Plextor, nor do I own stock in the company, so believe me when I say that Plextor is THE "Cadillac" of CD-ROM drives. You *could* buy a different brand (as I have in the past) but you're better off if you don't. ;-)

Summary: The whole package - great CD-RW and software
Review: This is the best 32x speed CD-RW that is available. While you could go with a 40x, for the money this is a great buy. Plextor only does one thing, and they do it very well. Plus they package in Adaptec's award winning software, making this an all-around good deal.

Installation was simple. The only thing you may need that does not come in the box is a spare audio cable (from any computer store).

You can't do better for the money.

Summary: Flawless burner!
Review: 1) Installation was simple and flawless (I have a Dell OptiPlex). 2) Software installation went smooth. 3) Never failed burning at 12x of full CD-Rs and CD-RWs. 4) Web site has necessary software upgrades.

What else do you need?! Before this one I have used several HP and Samsung burners. I always had various problems with them. I think this one is worth the slightly higher price you will have to pay.

Summary: Excellent piece of hardware
Review: This is an excellent CD-RW drive. I was nervous about purchasing any drive because my system, although I have it tweaked as much as I can, is still a dog. Dual Pentium Pro 200 procs, 128 MB RAM, W2K. Installation was a bit tricky for my situation because I had to completely rearrange and recable everything plugged into the IDE slots on the motherboard. But it works like a champ. I have yet to make a coaster. The only problem I'm having is that I can't get the drive to burn at speeds faster than 4X. I am guessing that this has to do with enabling DMA, and the manual provides NO help for people running W2K. Other than that it's a great piece of hardware. The Adaptec software works fine for the simple burning I do. A lot of reviews suggest trying the Nero software, but so far I see no need.

In sum, if you're in the market for a CD-RW drive, rest assured that this Plexy will work flawlessly even if you run it on an older and slower system.

Summary: One tough, reliable drive!
Review: I had heard from many friends and websites that Plextor was an excellent and reliable brand, and I could not agree more! This is one tough CD-RW drive. First off, the air filled packaging it came in deflated on the way to me, which means it got bumped around a lot on the way to me. Yet it was in perfect working condition when I installed and ran it. Later, I was transporting my computer from home to school, and set it down on my bed to clear off a spot for it on my desk. My entire computer took a 3 foot tumble of my bed, dislodging the motherboard. After reassembling my computer, I thought my drive was done for. Yet I have burned many more CDs with it with no problems. This is amazing! Most CD-RW drives are pretty delicate, but it appears Plextor has made a rugged, durable product. It has only made a "coaster" (ruined a CD) when the media it was writing from (CD-CD) was faulty, which was my fault for not testing first, and it truly writes at 12x with NO buffer underruns, even when you are surfing the net and playing MP3s at the same time. This is one incredible product I would recommend to anyone considering buying a CD-RW drive!

Summary: oh, YEAH!
Review: After playing with a few other "quality" burners, I have come to the conclusion that Plextor is the way to go!

This thing is quick, quiet, and allows you to continue doing normal computer operations (the last one I had, you started it up, and then left for about twenty minutes 'til it was done).

The software package isn't bad, the 12X burn is simply awesome and where-as it only has a 2 meg buffer, I have yet to burn a coaster! If you're looking for a reliable CD-R, look no further than Plextor!

Summary: The Worst Burner Ever!!!!!!
Review: I have used HP burners and had no problems. However, the Plextor boasts being the best but just can't deliver. Final result was the plextor manager crashed my hard drive. So back it goes to California......where it belongs!
