Description:
Pioneer's DVR-S806 external DVD writer is capable of recording at up to 16x normal speed on DVD-R/+R discs and up to 4x with high-capacity DVD+R DL (dual-layer) discs via your choice of FireWire (IEEE 1394) or high-speed USB 2.0 connections. The writer can sit horizontally or vertically on a supplied stand. The DVR-S806 is more than fast, however, it's also good: it's designed to create reliable, high-quality recordings with quieter operation than most drives owing to proprietary Pioneer technologies. With 4x recording on DVD+R DL discs, the drive can burn 8.5 GB in about 25 minutes. It also records at 32x with appropriate CD-R media and 24x on CD-RW. For playback, the drive supports its write formats as well as DVD-RAM (versions 2.0 and 2.1, without cartridge), DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, and audio CD. Exclusive Pioneer technologies found in the DVR-S806 include Liquid Crystal Tilt/Thickness Compensator, Smart Laser Driver technology, an Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber, and performance-adjusting firmware that optimizes the disc's rotation speed and minimizes operational noise during writing and reading. The drive comes with a CD-ROM containing disc-burning applications such as Nero and U-Lead. What's in the Box DVD/CD drive, software CD-ROM, an AC/DC power adapter, an AC power cord, a USB cable, 2 IEEE 1394 cables (one 6-pin to 6-pin, 1.5m; one 6-pin to 4-pin, 1.5m), a stand for vertical mounting, a user's manual, and a warranty card. Note: For 16x write on DVD-R/+R discs, Pioneer recommends using its recommended 8x discs or else media specially designed for this recording speed. For 4x write on DVD+R DL discs, use Pioneer-recommended 2.4x discs. See user's manual for recommendations.
