Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding Unit
Review: I had it up and running on a WIN98SE 1ghz machine in about 10 minutes. Not a single problem. I've burned about 50 or 60 CDs so far and not a single coaster among them, most of which were done at 40X. Keep in mind folks that if you buy CHEAP Discs, you get CHEAP results. I've burned at slower speeds on CD-RWs and no problem with them either. I prefer Easy CD Creator 5 which does not support this drive, so I use NERO. Thats just my preference for software however and I guess I can get used to NERO.
Strictly speaking about the Philips I don't see how you can beat it. 700MB CD in under three minutes (Music, Data, MP3 it doesn't matter)

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Tough to set up
Review: It writes music perfectly, but for some reason I haven't been able to get it to write any sort of executeable file without the file being unreadable.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best CDRW drive on the market (and affordable)
Review: My previous CDRW (pacific xxxx) have about 20% fail rate

I was about to buy the Sony 40x12x48 one while I saw this Philips
one with the same price
So I think, well, Philips is the inventor of the CD, they must make good product in this field.
It has 4mb buffer (Sony has 2mb)

It burns fast (burn one CD in < 3 minutes)
Fail proof (even you accidentaly eject the source CD ...)
seemless: For some music CD doesn't have "gap" between tracks
like broadway musicals, this is perfect

Never burn a bad CD, yet (I tried 22 CDs)
Runs not as hot as my previous drive

5 star recommended !!
