Rating: Summary: Great burner, great software Review: A great drive that also happens to be a great bargain. Easy to install and use for this first-time CD burner. The Nero software is great. Drag and drop use that even I could not mess up. The drive is quiet and fast. I thought about paying more for a 16X drive and am glad I didn't. This one burns CD's in about 7 minutes. The two minutes you would save with a 16X drive is hardly worth the money. The drive came with a 4Mb Buffer instead of the 2Mb that was advertised. I cannot say enough good things about this drive. Buy it.

Rating: Summary: Don't count on ever seeing your rebate Review: A quick gripe about a great product. I purchased this drive in April and installed it myself in about 3 minutes. Not a single problem ever.It writes at up to 12X on even the cheapest blank CDs. A fantastic drive at a fantastic price. I'd give it a 5 out of 5 except that the rebate from Cendyne was supposed to arrive in 6-8 weeks- ha. Appparently the rebate is handled by a third party that is uninterested in customer satisfaction. They do not answer emails or phone calls. So keep that in mind - but it's still steal when it is on sale (7-27-2001 it's 50% off - WOW). ...
Rating: Summary: Solution to DVD Woes Review: Bought this for a W2K SP2 box with VIA KT133A chipset. Although CD and CD+RW functions worked fine, the DVD portion did not work at all. DVD videos would not play (sw hangs), and browsing data DVDs in Explorer would hang W2K completely. I could not even install new firmware from CenDyne or Ricoh (OEM). The solution: Go into Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> IDE/ATAPI Controllers -> Secondary IDE Channel (assuming you're plugged into this channel). Change the access mode from DMA to PIO. This solved all the DVD problems. After upgrading firmware to 1.30, was able to go back to DMA mode and everything continued to work fine. Luckily for me, I was able to figure out this problem. I fear others may not, which is why I am posting this. Other than this initial problem, however, the drive is a great deal.
Rating: Summary: burnproof is great Review: Cendyne added burnproof to their CDRW is great, i used to have 50% success rate with their 4x4x8, due to buffer underrun, now it's 100% with 12x10x32 on audio cd, and it costed half as much as the 4x4x8 if i ever get the rebate.
Rating: Summary: No Problems so far Review: I only had it for a month by now. But it looks like a good and fast CDRW. I especially like the software Nero Burn ROM. I can convert my MP3's into good quality audio CD's.
Rating: Summary: Cendyne - Don't trust it! Review: I purchased the Cendyne drive and it will not work in any PC's for either reading CD's or buring. It reads incredibly slow and failed at 6 burn attempts across 2 PC's on it's own IDE channel. Before purchasing a Cendyne product, check out their web page and see the tech support bbs. Many, many unhappy users with complaints going unanswered.
Rating: Summary: Great burner, great software Review: I purchased this a couple of weeks ago. The burnproof is awsome. I can surf the net, do whatever I want while its burning at 12x without any difficulty. Nero is also a great program. Simple to use, and all the options that you want. and it does not make w2k crash. The audio extraction is at a respectable 10x. The drive is quite. I even have it as the slave together with my cdrom drive, which is not recomended by them, but it works fine. Great Product. (its a liteon by the way in case you are wondering)
Rating: Summary: Great product, but a word of caution... Review: I purchased this drive about 6 weeks ago for my wife's computer. It performed flawlessly and the NERO software is terrific. We liked the drive so much I decided to purchase a second Cendyne CD-RW for my home system and it arrived a few days ago. We opened the box and were surprised that it is a completely different drive than the one previously received. The box is identical, as is the documentation. The most obvious difference is that the original drive we ordered has a headphone jack and volume control on the face of the drive. This is consistent with the illustration on the packaging. The most recent Cendyne drive we ordered does not have these features. I give the product 5 stars because the original Cendyne drive we ordered deserves it. But skeptic that I am, I plan on returning the second drive to Amazon without bothering to install. The differences I've described might be minor to another user, but they are relevant to me. What is in the box is clearly NOT what is represented by the box and accompanying user's manual.
Rating: Summary: Works great! Review: I purchased this drive mainly because it was the cheapest with the rebate offered at that time. I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 children and when I got this drive I was scared to open up my PC and mess with it since I have only a grain of rice knowledge of computers. Well, I read the manual, and the manual that came with my PC, and it was up and running in no time! I have a 4 year old K6-2 300Mhz processor with 64MB of memory. So I added an additional 128MB memory module right after the Cendyne was in place. I started my computer and everything was recognized and there was no conflict. I installed the Nero software that the drive came with and absolutely love it because it will detect if any song is corrupted before I start the burn process so virtually every CD that I burn has been sucessful even at a 12x rate. I use TDK's 50 pack Data CDR media. I have already made a dozen of CD's from music I've downloaded from IMESH. I'd recommend this drive to anyone.
