Summary: Great Price/Performance Package
Review: Installation was simple: I disconnected the cables from my Sony 32x CD-ROM drive, removed it from the case, replaced it with the CenDyne 8x8x32 EIDE Internal CD-RW Drive (manufactured by Sanyo), connected the existing cables to the new drive, and turned on the computer. Windows rebuilt its driver database and 10 minutes after I began the installation I was listening to a CD. No tweeking.

Next came the software installation -- a very easy process -- afterwhich I started the Nero Burning Rom software, selected 22 songs from 22 different CDs (giving me a 70-minute compilation) and let Nero do its job. The entire process took less than an hour (10 minutes actual burn time). Recording the same songs to a cassette would have easily taken 90-100 minutes.

Summary: I LOVE IT!
Review: It is cheap and the instructions were confusing. After I put it in and recorded on the CD they gave me, it was all worth it. It recorded so fast and it was easy to record. I love it and told all my friends to get one!

Summary: Burn Baby Burn
Review: Set-up was a breeze. The included Nero software behaved well on installation. Novices may be a bit confused by all the options (Audio/Data CDs, etc.) but this is very straightforward software.

A particularly great feature is the included InCD program. After an initial formatting of a CDRW disc (about 40 minutes on a year old el-cheapo disc), you can use the disc like you would a floppy. Of course, you get over 400 times more space. The disc was readable in several newer CD-ROM drives without needing the InCD program installed, so you're talking selectively erasable portable mega-storage.

I had to stop at CompUSA for some blanks and noticed this drive on the shelves at $.... This is a great deal.

I burned a CD with about 60 mp3s (300 megs or so) in about 6 minutes. This thing hums! Don't be put off by the brand. The drive I got was made by Teac (if I recall correctly).

Summary: Good drive....
Review: This drive installed easily: just set the jumper to master, plug it in like the instructions say and boot up the computer. It worked 1st time out of the box, no drivers to install. Mine is reported as a TEAC CD-W58E drive in the device manager. Cendyne obviously gets these from a variety of makers. The included software with mine is NTI CD Maker 2000, similar in function to the Nero software. Cendyne has a forum for Tech Support on their website and also has helpful FAQs. My first test was to copy a CD I made on another burner, and it took about 15 minutes using the harddrive to image the CD. If you have another CDROM it would speed up the process to about 9 minutes. I recommend the Cendyne highly as a budget burner.

Summary: Really a TEAC drive
Review: This drive is really a TEAC which is good brand. Supported by most of the writing programs out there.
