Rating: Summary: HP yet again lives up to its excellent reputation Review: This CD-RW is a great entry level drive. Its speed enables it to burn full CDs in just under 10 minutes(1200 kbps). It also has the full ability to read and write in the best raw format for programs like CloneCD to work, which is a major advantage when trying to backup pesky copy-protected CDs. Although not documented, it also seems to be able to write to the 700MB size CD-Rs as well. It comes with the standard Adaptec software which is very good and quite complete. The only thing I will detract a point for... I plan to upgrade to WindowsXP when it is released and I have noticed that HP is charging for the Win2000 version of the adaptec software. That lets me down a bit. Especially considering similar HP CD-RWs are being sold in major chains with the newer software. This doesn't affect me yet, and the price is reasonable, though there is also third party software to accomplish this task as well. Overall a good drive, though in the past few months better deals have appeared.
Rating: Summary: This product is kind of pricy don't you think? Review: This CDRW drive is way to [pricy] for its speed. Yes, it may be a high quality product...I believe this is a good product, but it needs to be cheaper.
Rating: Summary: HP yet again lives up to its excellent reputation Review: This is a great buy. It copys clear and fast. I installed mine in at least a 1/2 hour and that is including at 1a.m(so excited to use it), it was the first time I ever opened my computer and I am 17. I just have one question. Can I copy video games with it? (ex: Playstation 1,2 and Dreamcast)

Rating: Summary: Good Products but.... Review: this is a great cdrw to have, the only problem with this product is that it lack a user's manual. To a experienced user it might not be a problem but to a novice it might cause some inconvenience. I consider myself a experienced user and I install cdrw and use it w/o any problem, it's just that I prefer to have a manual which can tell me that it is normal for the cdrw reading light to stay on whenever there is a disc inside the cdrw. But if you think you don't need any manual then this product is for you.
Rating: Summary: Great Device Review: This is a really nice CD ROM burner. I use it as a second CD-ROM drive and mainly for CD burning but it can be used like any other CD-ROM drive. I purchased it mainly to create my own music CD's. I was hoping I could use the read write feature to create music CD's and then have the ability to record over it but it doesn't work that way. Only the CD-R discs can be burned for music and the CD-RW discs are data only and they can only be used with other compatible CD-RW drives. Any discs created with a CD-RW will not work on your portable or car CD player. I also use it for transfering large amounts of data from one computer to another with each disc capable of storing 650 MB.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Quality! Review: This product is easy to install and easy to use. I have used it to create CDs of teaching materials for use with Microsoft PowerPoint 2000. It burns 650 Mb CD-R discs in 8 minutes on my system. I did have to optimize my system to burn at 8X but it was worth it! Great job, HP!
Rating: Summary: BUY IT! ITS GOOD! Review: THis product is wickid good! I bought it today andi alreado got 3 CDs burned. The labler that came with it is cool so i can personalize my Cds!Installation wasnt as simple as i thought it would be, i had to take of the mother board and disconnect all these wires that i dont know about and i cut myself too! OUCH! Then i had to put everything back! It took about 30 mins when on the video the chick did it in like 5! BULLSHIRT! But all computers are different i guess, it has to be diffucult for me though. Everything usually is. but anywho, GET IT! When the work was all done, it was worth it. I just used MUSICMATCH JUKEBOX to change mp3s to WAV files and i burned away! one Cd didnt go the whole way but i think thats cuz the song was messed up. BUT GET IT! I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT! ITS FAST, RELIABLE, and it WORKS!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING BURNER, BEST I'VE EVER SEEN! Review: This was the first burner I purchased for myself, even though I've used many different burners that belonged to family and freinds. Since this was internal, I had to install it in my processor. As soon as I heard that, I looked at myself and went... What? I never opened my processor before and didn't have any clue as what to do. Luckily, HP included a very precise instruction video. The first time I hooked it up, I accidentally misplaced a certain wire and my computer didn't work. So I had to go back inside and put all the wires back where they used to be. I was just about to call HP and have a professional hook it up the next day, when I saw the video for the second time. This time I was fully aware of what each wire was. I noticed problem instantly and was able to hook it up in less than 10 minutes. The installation was simple and it's real easy to burn your own CDs. I just burned my first CD. WHAT AMAZING SOUND! It's just like CD quality. The burner has a terrific speed as well. My friend has a Sony CD burner and it takes him 14 minutes. Took me a little less than 5 minutes! I only burned 4 songs though. They were still pretty long. Internal is much better than external. Even though you have more to do to install it, it's worth it. My friend told me his external burner easily gets damaged if it's shaken. Internals always in your processor, making it fully protected and safe. This burner is just amazing. Hey, if I can do it, you can do it! You don't have to be a computer wiz. This was my first time I went into my computer's processor, and look what happened! This is a real affordable price. The higher versions of the HP burners run at 12x, which messes up the CD since practically all CD-R and CD-RWs run at 10x max. They don't let you customize the track names on the CD either. So you're getting a real good deal on this burner. Almost $175, that's much better than $250 or $300. Anyway, but it. That's all I can say. HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS BURNER AS MUCH AS I DID! :)
Rating: Summary: Answer to MP3 question Review: To burn MP3's to CD using this or any other burner, an easy way to do it is to use WINAMP to convert the MP3 file to a WAV file, then use the Adaptec software to make the CD. Hope that helps the person that had the question on how to do it. I have a Plextor, and it works just fine. This model works well too, although I don't personally have it.
