Rating: Summary: Good product if you can figure out how to use it Review: I ordered 2 of the 9100i machines and installed them with relatively little problem. HOWEVER, I was distressed to discover: a) no hard copy of a manual (common these days); and b) no "pdf" file with a printable electronic manual! There was a supposed "link" to an on-line manual which did not work at all, as no file by that name existed. As there is no toll-free support number, and no easy way to email HP (that I could discover), I must say that they have really fallen down on this one. What good is a great product that an average person cannot make the best use of? I am not an electronics wizard, and can't always figure these things out on my own. I know I'm not alone! What's even more distressing is that the HP web site says that there is NO MANUAL AVAILABLE for download for this model!
Rating: Summary: I wish for some help, here. Review: I recently recieved one of the these for my birthday, and all i have to say is: HP did a lousy job at writing a troubleshooting section in the troubleshooting guide, on the installer CD, and on the website. There is no tech support phone number, or any support phone number of any kind. This is all relevant to me because my computer would not start up when the drive was plugged in, and all they said to do was "check the cables." This does not work, but still seems to me to be their main problem solving tactic, along with "shut the computer down for 20 seconds and then turn it on. If anyone from HP reads this, please note: Your customer support is horrible. Put a little bit of effort into your troubleshooting, etc., please.
Rating: Summary: just a question.. Review: i want to know if you can put mp3's from napster onto cd's with this system and is it easy to do? i havent actually bought it yet so ignore the star rating.
Rating: Summary: HP 9100i CD Writer Review: I've been in the computing business for over 25 years and I'm telling you, no product is as impressive as the HP 9100i for its affordable price. I was checking out some catalouges the other day and I saw a few external CD writers ranging between 350-800 dollars and even the internal writes were very costly ranging between 300 and 500 dollars. Well for this CD writer it isnt going to cost that much. Just between 170.00 and 199.95. And believe me its worth it. The software included in this package is incredible. The Adaptec CD Creator allows you to take any type of file, whether it be large or small, (up to 650mb and 74 min. of audio) drag them into a small area, and burn away. Also, the label creator helps me to remember what I put on each CD so I don't get confused. The HP 9100i is a very good writer. My computer isnt too fast but it still records CD's in under 12 minutes every time. Isn't that incredible? Shipping is excellent. It only takes about 1 wk. to ship and the wait is worth it.
Rating: Summary: The single best thing you can add to your computer! Review: I've had this product for less than a week and I don't know how I did without it. Installation was easy (15 minutes tops), and the thing works like a charm. I'm now backing up the files I always meant to copy to floppy and never did. It's wonderfully easy to use. It also works great for burning audio cd's using MusicMatch. I give this product my highest recommendation.
Rating: Summary: No Coasters for Me. Review: I've owned this burner for quite a while now and have never burned a coaster with it. I've had great luck with it. It's easy to set up and came with quite a bit of software. I had other burners but, this one came with one of the best software bundles and Hewlett Packard's great name. I was burning cd's within an hour of opening the package. It was simple to install (if you're comfortable opening your computer's case) and used a standard atapi driver. After loading up the Easy CD Creator software I was buring away. They were nice enough to include the CD Stomper labeling kit too. Great kit. I haven't had any problems in over a year of use.
Rating: Summary: Useless with out directions Review: It always amazes me that computer companies think it ok to sell you a product and not give decent directions on how to use it. This one tops all - directions beyond installation are, for all practical purposes, non-existant. I've had mine for a week and still can't get it to store any photos for me. The help site doesn't address photo storage. All I can figure is HP must get some sort of kick back from the phone company, because the only way you can make this work is to spend a lot on long distance phone calls to their tech support
Rating: Summary: Perfect all-around job!!! Review: That's a cool one. I had an Acer (3 years old now) and believe me, this 8*4*32 bringsa somehow a thrill in my computer. I bought it 2 months ago. I'm really glad with it except that when I first used the given CD-R disc, I burned it but didn't work after copying my MP3 files to the audio. From that time I know that I have to lower the reading time by half the amount so that it doesn't f... up. The main reason behind it is that I have a simple Pentium and thus the access speed of my HD isn't that fast enough. It's self-explainable! Otherwise, a 5 star would have been awarded. No Cons, I suppose since I burnt almost 45 CD's till now and also made copies of films for friends. U won't be dissapointed w/ that one. Cool design by the way and software--- 3 clicks away to make your 1st audio CD.
Rating: Summary: Best Burner Review: This burner works great. I bought it primarily to make music cds. The cds it burns work well with all players as long as you follow instructions and burn them the right way. I prefer burning without the wizard. By changing the settings in the advanced recording tab, you can burn cds without the two second gap between songs. This is good for live concerts, when one song bleeds into another. It takes about 9 minutes to burn 74 minutes of music: 8x recording is great! Installation is easy. Read the documentation and watch the video. It took me about 30 minutes to have everything installed, back together, and running. Buy this burner. It's a great burner for an awesome price.
Rating: Summary: pretty good cd burner Review: this cd burner is pretty good for its price. it burns a cd in no more then 15 mins. the quality is good on the cds, except for a certain brand of cds there was static, but i think that was the cds, not the burner. some problems with the burner is that when burning mp3 files for your computer on a cd, almost every time it troubleshoots and u have to do it again, wasting a cd. also, a few songs arent burnable which is annnoying. either way, all in all, its a good cd burner for the money and if your only using it to make music cds its good.
