Rating: Summary: After returning a QPS QPCDRW161040SEM I got the CDI CD 00091 Review: After my frustrating experience with the non-functioning SCSI QPS QPCDRW161040SEM (described elsewhere),I picked up the Cendyne Lightning at Costco. Installation was straightforward. The drive worked right-away under Linux (using Xcdroast-098-alpha) by loading the ide-scsi module. Needs to be loaded via grub, or lilo. Under W2k the supplied Nero software works fine and producing audio and data CD-s at 24x worked flawlessly (no coasters so far after about 12 disks). On-the-fly copying from a Toshiba 32x DVD-rom drive works even at 24x, though the actual speed is lower, probably due to the fact that both drives are on the same IDE-bus (Nero warns about this). The drive makes a slight whistling noise from time to time, but is quieter than external scsi drives (Yamaha and QPS) I have tried before.
Rating: Summary: Good value Review: Good drive for the price. Hardware installed on the first try. Software was a problem. The supplied Nero CD wouldn't install on my Compaq Presario. A couple of e-mails later, CenDyne mailed me an NTI CD Maker 2000 CD. That installed OK, but the version supplied didn't support the 00091. A couple of more e-mails and another CD was mailed to me. Installed it and it works great. No problems doing audio or data CDs. Most customer service e-mails were answered in 48 hours. Certainly had worse service!

Rating: Summary: This drive is exceptional! Review: I have tried an HP drive, a TDK drive, which both actually cost me twice as much as this Cendyne 24X, and I had trouble copying with both, but I realized all that you are purchasing is a name with HP.This CenDyne Drive and Nero software installed easily on my Windows 2000 machine, and the write speed on this drive is exceptional. I would recommend this to all buyers.
Rating: Summary: Great deal Cendyne 24x10x40 ide cd-rw Review: I must say I am an adaptic software man and when this item arrived fast I must also mention.. it had nero and well haven't had much dealings with this but after installing and burning a few disk I must say the burner was fantastic and so was the software it is a much simple to learn and use than the other..but can't get over the speed of the burn I have a philips but only an 8x4/32 I beleive and I thought it was nice but this one put mine to shame. to bad it wasn't for me though, it was a customers I had gotten for her to put it in her system, now I must get me one also and I will say I have had a few and this one rates up with the plextors and some of the others, I like my plextors also and have seen here the price on some of them also they are just full of deals here and I will shop again..
Rating: Summary: Orginal Problems fixed for nice product. Review: I recieved this drive at the beginning of March. After a week, I started having trouble with the drive door... it would not stay shut!! The Cendyne repackaged Verbatim I was told was really a Verbatim repackaged Lite-on. After some tricky dos firmware work, I relabeled the drive, loaded the lite-on firmware update and it works like a charm! Love it. got it here cheap...
Rating: Summary: CENDYNE Catching up to HP!!! Review: I swear by HP quality, there is nothing better, Yamaha's are next but way behind in quality. But now, Cendyne comes along, and they are offering this fast and furious burners. They are serious, the quality is excellent HP like, and their prices are good too. I just bough 2 of them for the shop and they compare in quality to HP except they dont come with any decent software (I am using the HP stuff!) Decent and better than an off brand, yamaha, sony or any other wannabe burner.
Rating: Summary: Very happy with this CD-RW Review: I'm in no way a tech guru, but the installation instructions that came with the cd-rw were flawless. In less than a half-hour I had my old cd drive out, and the new one fully installed and functioning. My system, which is 5 years old, detected the new drive right away. I'm running a PII, 256MHz and have had no problems. Burning CDs is quick and easy as well. As a test run, I burned 10 jpegs and 1 .doc file in about 2 1/2 minutes. For the price, this is a great purchase.

Rating: Summary: Very happy with this CD-RW Review: I've never owned a CD-RW before so didn't know what to expect, but we are very pleased with this one. I was going to buy a different brand that cost twice as much as this one, but because of the price and the reviews decided to buy this one. Everything about it has worked great! The software, in my opinion, is very self-explanatory! I've made several copies of CD's and have not had one not work yet!!
