Summary: Works fine for me
Review: I have a laptop PC running Win98SE, and this drive works just fine; exactly as advertised.

Summary: Can write CD-R's at 2x on Win98SE, CD-RW's are not reliable
Review: I have used the PCRW464K to write CD-R disks at 2X speed on Win98SE. I use it to backup my hard disk and to burn ISO images of Linux-Mandrake. Writing to CD-RW disks isn't reliable. In spite of this, I'm satisfied with the product I bought because of its convenient USB interface.

Review: I purchased this unit and used it to burn CDs before my computer had a burner in it. It made it easy to copy files from work to work in the evenings at home. I had an easy time with setup, never had a failure, great purchase for me.

Summary: It works GREAT with my windows ME !!!
Review: I read all of the reviews and decided not to order, but told my friend to try it because he runs windows 98. It worked fine for him. I took his software and installed it on my Compaq Presario notebook running windows ME. The drive worked GREAT! I did not have any problems with the cdrw or the software. I found both the cdrw and software very easy to navigate. I do not understand all of the bad reviews. It was as simple as plug and play to install, and point and click to copy files or burn a cd. I had to give the cdrw back to my friend, but I had my own drive before I gave it up!
DO NOT LET THE BAD REVIEWS STOP YOU FROM TRYING THIS CDRW LIKE I DID! If you do not try it,you will never know what you missed!

Summary: waste of time and money
Review: I understand this can work only on 95/98. If you are on Windows 2000, the CD creator software that comes with it cannot recognize the drive.THIS IS NOT MENTIONED IN THEIR SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS..

Summary: Great CD-RW Recommended... READ THE BOX
Review: I use thie drive with Win 98SE on a Compaq Presario Laptop. I chose this drive b/c of its USB connectivity. I got it dirt cheap and have only been impressed with it and the included software, Adaptec. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. If you read the box it says its not compatible with windows ME and it is compatible with Windows 95 assuming you have a USB port and the port is supplied with drivers. The earlier version of win 95 did not support USB, later on it did. Check your stuff.. Its a great bargain and looks sharp. A++++

Summary: Good product in its cost segment
Review: If I could give it zero stars, I would. My unit came with a european power adapter and I live in the US. Support promised to send me the proper power adapter with in 24 hours, after I made 3 phone calls and spent about 45 minutes on hold. The second support person I spoke to was the most uncooperative and rude. She refused to let me speak to a supervisor or manager "None are here." I finally got to someone who I thought was going to help, which he didn't either. It has now been over 48 hours and no sign of it, no e-mail or phone call to explain any delay. It was like pulling teeth to get some help. I am returning my unit and purchasing a different brand altogether. Like I said, save your time, money and aggravation and buy the other brand first. I won't purchase another Philips product solely because if this is the help I get on a simple problem and it can't be resolved, what kind of help will I receive if I have a real problem?... Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Horrible
Review: If I could give this product 0 stars, I would. I bought this CD burner after seeing on the box that it's advertised to be compatible with Windows 95, which I have. I'm not a computer genius, but the instructions seemed easy enough to follow. Boy was I WRONG! The instructions are fine but after numerous attempts to install the drive I noticed that one of the instruction manuals referred Windows 95 users to the Windows 95 Installation instructions in ANOTHER manual, and no where in that other manual did it say a thing about Windows 95 at all. To add to the aggravation, the instructions say that you have to have Windows 98. Why then did they say their drive is compatible with Windows 95 when you can't set it up with Windows 95? I agree with the other reviewer who couldn't find any support numbers. I checked the web address in the manual and found NO online help that actually helped, and then I noticed a different web address on the box and finally was able to find a customer service hotline but it was closed over the Holiday. Poor customer service (if any at all), misleading advertising, and an all around bad experience add up to a lost customer for Philips. If you're considering buying this drive, do yourself a favor and DON'T!!!
