Summary: Well at least it looks nice.....
Review: ...even if it is no use at all with Windows 98. The installation instructions that come with the drive are not that helpful, and neither is the technical support I got when I went on the Iomega website looking for help. After a week of trying to get this to work I am now racking up expense getting our external IT support company at work to come in and help me TRY to sort this out.

Avoid.

Summary: Can't Lose With This Price!
Review: Besides the great look, the easy hook-ups and an easy installation, this is a great price. I have always owned internal burners, but I like this one, as I don't have to get inside my tower and mess with all the connections. The best part is this machine burns music CD's in record time. No more 40-60 minute waits for a CD. I burned one in 12 minutes! It is easy to install, but if you are new to CD burners, you might get a little mad about printing out instructions that are not that easy to figure out. That's one fault I have with accessories that don't bother to give you a manual. Otherwise, it's a great bargain and if you don't like it - return it! No hassles with Amazon.com!

Summary: IOMEGA muffed this one ZERO STARS!
Review: Bought the predator drive to go with a Toshiba Satellite laptop after making several coaster, put drive on desktop. Didn't work. Tried a second desktop. Still didn't work. IOMEGA sent two more drives and it still doesn't work. Unreliable, maybe one out of 10 tries makes a usable CD. Bought a TEAC. Built like a Battleship and works on all the computers. Has never made a Coaster. DON'T BUY IOMEGA UNLESS YOU WANT LOUSY SERVICE AND UNUSABLE CDs. Tech line kept saying things like IOMEGA stuff doesn't like Toshiba chip set. Well, the TEAC works find by Doing nothing more than plugging it up. Same PCs, Same software (Adaptec and NERO) Piece of junk - No more buying anything by IOMEGA

Summary: COOL DRIVE!
Review: Easy to install, i've had a couple internal cd-rw drives...but it's such a hassal to move them around....it's much better to get externals that you can just plug into USB port. This is the fastest, cheapest drive i've seen. very cool!

Summary: WHERE THE HECK ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS????????
Review: I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS ... I HAVE HAD A NIGHTMARE OF A TIME GETTING THIS ... TO WORK, AND THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE TERRIBLE. I GOT THIS ... FOR MY BIRTHDAY, IN JUNE, I'M STILL TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT, I'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO MAKE A FEW CDS. SOMETIMES IT WORKS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING WRONG. EVERYTIME I GET READY TO DESTROY THIS "THING" IT STARTS WORKING. IT'S SO SLOW! AND ...I COPY A CD, IT TELLS ME IT WORKED, THEN I PUT THE CD IN TO LISTEN TO IT AND ALL I GET IS A SCREEEEEEECH! I'M TELLIN YOU, IT BRINGS ME TO TEARS. DO NOT BRING THIS ... INTO YOUR HOME, ...

Summary: ALMOST GREAT!!!
Review: I am impressed with the drive itself; but,(a big but) the software is horrible!!! It slowed down, snail like transfer rate, did not recognize a USB 2.0 connection and froze my laptop. It basically took FOREVER!!!... BEWARE THE SOFTWARE STINKS.

Summary: Does a good job, even one USB 1.0
Review: I am using an aging computer and my old CD writer broke. I bought this because it was compatable with USB 1.0 as well as good for when I get around to upgrading. The problem with this product is that the software is pretty weak compared to some of the better programs out there. Otherwise it is a good product with a good price.

Someone told me once that every CD writer will break within 2 years, if it gets regular use. So far it seems to be more or less true. If you're in the market for them, go with an external CD writer, and go with one that isn't TOO expensive. Besides, as with most technology these days, in a couple months there will be one way better for less money.

Summary: no problems
Review: I bought this burner to work with my Dell inspiron laptop with XP and a USB 1.1 port. I was a bit nervous buying this product after reading the other reviews but I had successfully burned my first CD within about 30 minutes of opening the box and have had no problems so far. The software is relatively easy to install and use although it seems a bit slow to respond at times. Also the unit is larger than I thought it would be. But in general I am happy.. it works just fine and is a great buy at this price. Dont be too put off by the bad reviews.
