Summary: The Best
Review: Had tried a competitor's CD-RW and had nothing but problems. Purchased Plextor's 12/10/32A based upon reviews in leading industry magazines. Drive took about 10 minutes to install, and immediately burned a flawless audio CD with 18 tracks 10 minutes later. The documentation and software included is also more than adequate to get you started. If your considering purchasing a CD-RW, you can't go wrong with this drive.

Summary: This drive takes a beating and delivers!
Review: Normally I don't ever review anything twice, but I wanted to give this Plextor the ultimate test and see if the drive could do it, and if Burn-Proof lived up to its name. Well, I think some of you might be interested in the results.

I decided to burn a full 650 MB CD tonight at 8X on a rather generic CD-R. While I was burning the videos from my 45 GB drive, I was defragging it, and copying 65 MB of files off my zip drive to another hard disk. My system was tremendously slowed down and the buffer was always at 1% or 2%.

Imagine burning an ENTIRE CD at 8X (1200k/sec), while DEFRAGGING the host drive, and copying 65 MB of files off a zip drive to another hard disk, and looking at web sites.

If anything is a sure fire way to ruin a CD, this is it.

As soon as the burn cycle was done, I tested it. Perfect. The videos play fine on it. This is the ultimate test of any burner I have ever seen. Nobody believed I could defrag my hard disk while burning and have a good CD. Well, I just did it. Perhaps some people won't believe me, but that's the truth.

Sure the drive is expensive, but show me even a SCSI CD-RW that you can defrag the host drive, bog the system down this much, and have a perfect CD!

One final point: depending on which package you get, you will either have Adaptec Easy CD Creator or PlexTools. You will definitely want Easy CD Creator. PlexTools is not very good and you cannot make a custom CD like you can with Easy CD. So if you don't get it, go get yourself a copy. You will be much happier. Also, you will need Easy CD Creator 4.02 with the updated libraries so it will recognize this drive.

This Plexwriter is a rock solid drive. I wouldn't have even done this test on a SCSI burner.

Burn-Proof works and this drive has it!

Summary: Plextor is the Best!
Review: I got the 12/10/32A burner as an early Christmas gift. Without reading the manual, I had the drive installed and cooking in less than 5 minutes. Works great with all of my recording software! Burn Proof is awesome! This burner has saved me a tons of time due to the fast recording speed. My burner came with firmware revision 1.04 and was very easy to upgrade to 1.07. You owe this to yourself to get this burner! I would buy no other brand than PLEXTOR.

Summary: The best CD-RW money can buy
Review: I have owned Plextor products for over seven years. I recommend them to family, friends, professionals, and collegues. Simply put, purchasing from Plextor is purchasing that is worry free. I never worry if the drive won't work, or more importantly that the product will not live up to my expectations. This latest product is no exception. I dual boot under Windows NT and Windows 2000. The unit works flawlessly under both. Installation was easy, and posed no problems. For those of you looking to buy an upgrade, or purchase a CD-RW unit for the first time, you will not go wrong with this unit.

For those of you starting out, outside of a solid CD-RW, writing software is the most important. I use CeQuadrat WinOnCD version 3.7, and have used Adaptec Easy CD Creator. Both are solid products. Interesting note, Adaptec is the USA distributor for WinOnCD. If you plan to burn CD's, don't cut corners in cost. Spend the money up front, purchase a good burner AND good software. The amount of headaches you will save yourself will be worth every penny.

Summary: Heavy Computer User
Review: Great Burner. Used for 2 months and it is flawless. Easy to use after a person become famliar with how to use Adaptec software. It also include Plextor Manager 2000 software Which works super. You must understand that if formated CD-R that can be used only for direct saves. If you are going to copy a CD do not format first. Follow the software to copy CD to CD. It is best when you copy to the Hard Drive and the back to the blank cd, unless you have a later version of CD Reader or DVD cd Reader. Even 5-X DVD will not rip correctily to the CD Recorder. TO get full use of Burn Proof you need to purchase Adaptec Created Pro program. Althought the software that comes with the Unit is good. It is not necessary, only gives you more options. Great Product. Easy to download update Firm ware from Plextor Web Site and easy to install. Best on the Market.

Summary: Finally I choose Plextor
Review: I have changed my mind for several times. The reason for my faltering is hp 9510i vs this cdrw. With coupon and rebate I can lower the hp price to $150 while plextor will cost $190 even with coupon. There's also kind of trade off. This EIDE plexto has only 2 MB buffer. How could that be with a 12x cdrw? I don't know why Plextor only give this cdrw 2MB. However, plextor's long time miracle and the burn proof technology attracted me very much.

I consulted many experts and read lots of reviews. Finally Plextor won my heart. I paid 40 dollars more for this plexto

Summary: I would like to praise the Plextor people and recomend it.
Review: I am new to the world of computers, but I found the Plextor unit easy to install and set up by the well written instruction and operating manuals. I have not made any coasters and do not expect to. The speed that the copies are able to be made is impressive. With my limited experience I had no trouble assembling my music, then printing the jewel case cover and even the label. A well designed and easy to use CD RW, I highly recomend this as a well spent dollar value!

Summary: Plextor -- Best Drive on the Market
Review: If you want the best drive on the market then you will buy aPlextor. Plextor service is great if you do have a problem. My first plextor burner malfuntioned and they overnighted a new one the next day.

Summary: Best burner PERIOD
Review: I upgraded from the 8x/4x/32x to this one. The 8x doesn't have the BURNproof, and I made a few coasters with that one. With the 10x I have yet to manage making just a single coaster (LOL). I can now easily mutitask, and still burn a perfect CD! As to the previous review: I absolutely do NOT understand how you can run into ANY problems installing this drive. I had mine installed in less than 20 minutes, and didn't have any problems. You probably changed some settings inadvertently. To all prospective buyers: This is the only burner you will need for a longtime!!

Summary: Plextor = Poor Service
Review: I bought this drive. All went well until P. 20 of their instruction manual. After following the instructions on P. 20 to enable DMA, the computer no longer recognizes ANY of my CD drives.

I called tech support many times -- always got a recording that either the wait time was 50+ minutes OR they could not handle my call now. When I FINALLY did get in touch with them, they agreed I'd done exactly as the instructions say....(this was after waiting On Hold for 1.5 HOURS.... good thing I had a speaker phone.... they told me the only solution was to RE-INSTALL WINDOWS, and this time don't follow the instructions on page 20.

THIS IS NOT GOOD. I will not buy another Plextor product. I am now out $240, and now neither of my CD's works, and now I have to re-install Windows and all my other software as well.
