Summary: Re: Reliable & Affordable External Storage
Review: First Buslink external drive I purchased was several years ago, a 40GB USB 1.0, then another 60GB USB 1.0. Both work perfectly to this day and hold my now elderly files. The only draw back was installing drivers to use them which was at times a little tricky. For this reason I bought 2 Buslink Firewire external 120GB drives which work fantastic without need of drivers, and is a best option if using WinXP in my opinion.

Then I saw Buslink 'combo' drives and purchased another 120GB drive without regret, and am now purchasing a 250GB combo drive as a result. They are more flexable having both firewire and USB 2.0 options. From personal experience, Buslink drives are among the most sturdy. They stack perfectly, are hot swapable, can be daisy chained to each other, travel well, and last. I highly recommend speed of firewire drives over old USB 1.0, as the only advantage they had are on/off switches. When I play MP3 files directly off these firewire drives, it is impossible to tell they are external and play flawlessly. I intend to continue to purchase and stay with this brand and type of drive.

UPDATE: Since placing my order, I discovered and ordered a model update being as this one was no longer in stock and delivery was delayed twice. For a few dollars more, COMBO SERIAL ATA (model CO-250-U2FS) provides SATA connectivity as well. What they do not mention is that you must shell out an additional $40 or so to purchase an adapter card to bridge a connection to the motherboard. Being able to connect directly into the computer however allows an external drive to become bootable, not to mention increases speed to that of an internal drive. Nice!
