Summary: Very Good Burner
Review: ...i burned 3 cd's in twenty minutes. Every CD i made was perfect and there where no buffer underrun errors. The Included software (Easy CD, MusicMatch Jukebox Pro) was very helpfull in making cd's. I do know alot about computers and have run benchmarks and was very pleased. So all in all this was a good burner.

Review: All those people saying this is not a plextor 16x, why don't you open your eyes wider and look at the pictures of the Iomega on this site. It clearly shows that it has the fan and the exact same front and back faceplates. Compare it to the pictures of the Plextor unit. I own the unit so I know. If you don't own the unit, then don't disparage it!

Summary: Burner nughtmare
Review: I bought this product on the basis of the reviews made by others and the fact that my PC technician recommended I buy one with "Easy CD Creater" software. This is the only one that I could find that clearly stated that it contained this software. I am very happy with it. I am a 67 yr old woman and I found it easy to install and use. If it is good for me it must be great for those of you who REALLY know what they are doing....

Summary: You can't rate a product unless you've been able to try it.
Review: I had heard alot of good things about Iomega. So I bought a very nice looking cd-rw rom/burner. The first blatent problem I had was the fact that their software to install the program to run the hardware was put on a cd. I only had one faulty cd-rom to begin with. So I tried a number of faulty options to try and get around this problem (i.e. not being able to network with another computer, not having large enough memory on my zip drive to hold the installation cd, faulty downloads on their internet site, no available floppy/zip disks to order the software for, and helpline employees with differant/opposing views/ideas). So what this all comes down to is if your able to own 2 cd-roms or 2 computers you MAY not have any problems. Otherwise, you'll end up sending this product back like I had to do.

Summary: NOT A PLEXTOR - Manufactured by Philips
Review: I have no idea if this is a good drive or not, but the person who said this is a plextor is either stupid or lying. I called both Iomega and Plextor to verify. This drive is manufactured by Philips.

Summary: THIS IS NOT A PHILIPS DRIVE!
Review: I just checked Philips' web site to see if they offer a 16x burner that's comparable in specs to this Iomega drive. Guess what? They don't even make a 16x drive! The fastest drive they currently offer is a 12x. So why/how in the world would they manufacture a 16x drive for Iomega?!? Now I don't know if this is a rebranded Plextor, but it sure as heck isn't a Philips. BTW, this drive has worked very well for me & it was a breeze to install. You can't beat the price either - ...(after rebate) for a 16x drive? That's just insane.

I thought the BurnProof name was trademarked by Plextor, so that makes me lean toward thinking that this is a Plextor drive. BTW, this drive has worked very well for me & it was a breeze to install. Summary: Ok, so it's not a plextor...save your money and buy this!
Review: I was actually happy to learn that this was a philips? (not a plextor), because it is one of the few cdrw drives that will backup some of the tougher game copy protections (like Max Payne, Diablo 2, etc.). I've been very happy with this drive, producing no coasters thanx in part to the burn proof technology. It is a name brand drive for a no-name brand price. Nuff said. update: so whoever makes this drive, it does backup the tough games and performs flawlessly. I saw mention that it could also be made by Lite-on? Sanyo? You make the call...

Summary: Iomega rebrands from several sources
Review: It is true that this CDRW is a Plextor in some cases. I have a Plextor (Plextors have a fan in the rear). Otherwise, rumor is that this drive is now a Sanyo...

If you're lucky enough to get a Plextor version, this is one helluva drive. You can get the Plextor for about $X, but the Iomega rebate made this the way to go!

That's the real deal.
