Summary: LITE-ON LTN-525 52x Internal CD-ROM Drive
Review: After installing numerious CDR drives, the above drive has performed without a hitch. I would have to reccomend this drive, as far as price this drive stacks up well against the more expensive drives I have installed.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Probably not worth the extra shipping charge
Review: This drive is sold by J and R Music and Computer World, not by Amazon. You'd probably be better off buying one of the drives Amazon stocks. Amazon just relays the order for this drive to J and R (and charges your credit card through the "Amazon Payments" system). J and R will charge you almost $7 for shipping. You're better off buying a different drive during one of Amazon's "Free Shipping" periods.

The drive itself seems to be okay, although it is sometimes very LOUD.

Amazon's webpage does not match the drive. The model is actually an LTN-526d, not an LTN-525. Also, the buffer size is 128 kilobytes, not 2 Megabytes.

This drive doesn't work when it's installed on the same IDE channel as my iomega Zip drive. The Zip drive works fine separately and the CD-ROM drive also works fine alone, but they don't work together.

Windows didn't recognize the CD-ROM drive when it was installed as the master and the Zip drive was installed as the slave on the secondary IDE chanel. (My older CD-ROM drive worked just fine in the same configuration.)
