Summary: Okay - but needs more standards support/faster
Review: This is a good drive, but it is a bit slow, and does not write the "+" standard format. Though, it does READ the "+" format. It is a bit slower than + drives to write, due to the nature of "-" format. Though, having said all that, it is a solid drive, with a slew of (non-"+" standard) features. The cd-rw speed of 8x is ok, and cd-rw at 16x is more than enough for most users (based on their hard drive read speed). It is very compatible with standalone DVD players. I would recommend to anyone who has a DVD player with the "-" format, and who does not care about the "+" format drives.

Summary: Great but..no black
Review: This recorder is great, despite the horrible software package, but it doesnt cme in black. A lot of people inmcluding me have black computers now a days and a lot of drives do not come black...in fact i could not find 1 black dvd burner. Shame on all companies for doing this and discriminating against blacks.

Summary: Pioneer DVD Writer is stable, error free annd cheap
Review: With its price performance level I think its one of the best choices for DVD writer on the market now. Easy to install. XP compatible. Works great with NERO 6. Writes 4X around 15 minutes.
Only drawback is its only compatible with (-) media however who cares because the data format is same for everyone. I am using it for storing data. I didnt have any problems to play my dvd movies made with this one on my laptop or sony dvd player anyway.
