Rating: Summary: almost one year and going fine Review: I have two of these memorex jumps "thumbdrive." Both have worked fine and taken a lot of abuse as well! To the reveiwer below who had trouble with their USB, perhaps you a a newbie. I suggest you check your machine. I have used a dozen different brands (memorex, sandisk, lexar, etc) and never had trouble with a single one or machine pc or mac, usb 1, 1.2 or 2.0 and any drive. perhaps you twisted it while taking it out.In any case memorex support is great, I had one drive I crushed in a door (my fault and a strong enough impact to also destroy may car alarm gizmo) and they sent me a new one! I have had otehr brands (ironically the lexar "sport"), where the keychain holder broke, memorex is actually more study than most) Memorex jumps are also true usb 2.0 and there are a few cheap ones that aren't.
Rating: Summary: works but cap is broken Review: My review is mixed -Bad first: I too have the broken cap problem. They need to give spare caps or make them stronger. they also do not fit on the typical keyring. I had to go way out of my way to find one slender enough to fit through the hole and allow it to swing freely. After all of that trouble, the dang thing broke after just a few weeks.
On the good side: This thing has been through the clothes washer twice and through the clothes drier once (after the cap broke). My wife just pulled this thing out of the washer about 12hrs ago and I am using it to write my term paper. So if you don't care about the keyring this thing can take some abuse. It is also incredibly easy to use. I don't know what problems the other person had, but this thing works on everything I plug it into. One small problem: I notice computers fail to boot if I have it plugged in. I can only plug it in after windows has started. win2k sometimes requires a driver reboot, WinXP no reboot or special software or configuration required. Never tried it onWinNt4,Win98 or WinMe.
Rating: Summary: drive works fine but cap broke too soon Review: One of the reasons I chose the Memorex over some other options (like the comparably priced SanDisk for example) was because I wanted to put it on my keychain rather than risk losing it or having to put it around my neck. I've had the drive less than three weeks and the cap is already broken-- it came right off my keychain. I didn't abuse it or toss it around or step on it or doing anything extraordinary. And it's less than 3 weeks. Very annoying. The drive itself I haven't had problems with, though.
Rating: Summary: Worst product to ever buy Review: This is the worst flash drive ever someone can buy. I bought two of them for my personal use and both of them failed to work between USB2.0 and USB1.1. I've two computers at my home with one being USB2.0 and the other one being USB1.1. This flash drive miserably failed to work. Every time, I switch between the USB systems, the flash drive would have to be formatted. This is more nuisance then ever. I would never by a flash drive from Memorex ever in my life and I would certainly inform my friends about the same. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at prsiva@hotmail.com
