Summary: Risky Ridata Purchase
Review: Beware that you're playing the odds by buying the Ridata cakebox from Amazon. My spindle came with some disks with physical defects which made the DVD's unreliable for storing information. My previous purchase of this product from Newegg was defect free. The data that I store on my disks is precious enough to me that I don't want to risk burning faulty copies. If I had to do it again, I'd spend a few more dollars and get defect-free DVD's from somewhere else. It's a crap shoot whether you're burning reliable DVD's with these media.

Summary: Great Quality/Great Price
Review: I bought this 100 Spindle of Ridata DVD+R's based on a recommendation from a friend. I could not be any more pleased with the quality of these discs or with the price I got from Amazon.

I burned to these discs with my PC burner (IO Magic), with my DVD Recorder (Lite On LVW-5005) and with an HP Notebook PC's DVD burner.

Out of the 100 discs on this spindle I did not have one single error burning these discs. Every one of them burned without errors and played without errors. I have never had this success rate with any brand I have purchased, and you can be sure that I will purchase Ridata again.

Summary: Great Compatibility, Pretty Good Quality
Review: I have burned many brands of DVD-R... but this was the first time I've used DVD+R media.

The sale price was just too good to pass up at less than thirty bucks for 100 discs!

I have always been pleased with Ridata quality & compatibility with my Sony drive...which is known to be picky even with the latest firmware.

When I opened my spindle of 100 +R media, the first 25 or so discs had visible defects like scuffs or scratches on the burning surface.
The majority of the discs had no visible signs of defect and I have sucessfully burned several of them at 4x with no write or read errors.

Obviously the defects are not amazon's fault. I contacted amazon about the defective discs & promptly received a reply with a nice solution.

The disc id is RICOHJPN-R01-02, not RITEK G04 as I am used to seeing with Ridata's 4x DVD-R media. Not a big deal as they both burn great.
The spindle states made in Taiwan.
The discs have the Ridata branding logos on the top surface.

Overall these are great discs.
I held back 1 star due to the defective discs I received.

Summary: Good media for the price
Review: I have ordered 3 packs ($33 AR) from Amazon and they are all RICOHJPN-R01-02 discs. These discs can burn at 6X with NEC 2500A and Negro 6.0. I don't get any coaster or play back problem on these discs.

Summary: A big spindle of garbage
Review: I've used Ritek disks for quite some time, just never from Amazon. Couldn't pass up $29 for a 100 spindle of +r Ritek disks. My Plextor 708 coastered the first one at 8x. Looked at the disk and it looks like someone sprayed hairspray or something around the outer 3/4" of the surface. Great. Look throught the spindle and the first 20 disks look about the same way. Finally get one to complete and the outside of the disk (end of movie) still won't play. Thanks for the great quality control and the giant spindle of crap.

Summary: Rock solid 8x burns in a Benq 1620
Review: Just ordered my second stack of 100. I had been burning them at 4x in my Pioneer 106. I recently picked up a Pacific Digital 16x burner (which is a rebadged Benq 1620) and these burn reliably at 8x in that burner. CD Speed returns a quality rating of 95+% on the burns with very low PI/PO errors. Not sure if you can get faster than 4x with other burners. Media code is RICOHJPN

I also have some Ritek DVD-R 4x disks (G04) and these DVD+Rs play much better in my DVD players (Apex and Philips).

One small beef, the rebate form states that it needs to be postmarked within 15 days (or 30, both are on the form) of purchase date. If it is 15, then I'll need to ship out the rebate within two days of receiving the discs as I had selected Super Saver shipping.

Summary: Good media
Review: The 100-pack spindle had 6 defective disks at the top (with dye spotting problems). The rest burn perfectly, and the media code on the DVDs is "RICOHJPN" (the better one)

Be careful, because the pack you get may have more coasters.

Summary: Poor shipment packaging
Review: These are, in fact, RICOHJPN-R01-02 discs, which IMHO are some of the best and most reliable +R media made.

BUT whoever it is that specified the shipment packaging needs to be FIRED.
One cannot throw a cake-box of ever-so-fragile DVD write media in such a large box for over-the-road shipment without proper packing materials and not expect vibration damage.
This is great media with BAD shipping practices, so the only question is how many will be ruined en-route.
One would think that they would look at these reviews, as this has been going on for a long time, and get their heads out of their butts and fix the shipping problem.
