Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: My experience with my first two spindles of these discs was very satisfactory. Actually I had not a single coaster, and I was able to burn all my DVDs at 4x with my NEC 1100A burner. I went ahead and bought 3 more spindles. What a mistake! Even though the package seems identical to that of the first spindles I bought, the discs looked physically different. And to my surprise, they were actually different media. My burner can only roast them at 2.4x. I made a bit research about it by using DVDIdentifier and I found that the last discs I bought have manufacturer id = CMC.MAG.F01 whereas the first ones I bought have manufacturer id = RICOHJPN.R01. Most probably my burner's firmware doesn't support this id, so that's why it uses its default speed of 2.4x. I knew I can flash my drive to correct this problem, but this is risky. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this product to anyone since I wouldn't know if other burners had this same issue. I am giving two stars to this product for the first two spindles I bought, but I got very very disappointed with my last purchase. I really think Memorex should use different labels for these spindles, so that customers can choose the media that suits them best. I think that's care for customers, and it would be fair.
Rating: Summary: Burn at 8X on Plextor 708A Review: I've had nothing but good results with Memorex DVD+R 4X media. This is one of the few brands that will burn consistently at 8X (about 8 minutes per disk) on the Plextor 708A DVD+/=RW drive.
Rating: Summary: so far so good Review: I'm using a new Phillips standalone, put in the firmware upgrade and have been using these discs for a week at 6 hour capacity. So far no glitches!
Rating: Summary: Good quality, no problems Review: Using an NEC 1100A, I've burnt about 20 DVD's without any problems. They play perfectly fine on all the various players that I've tried them on, and they burn at 4X speed. With another cheaper brand that I bought on-line elsewhere, I was only able to burn at 2.4X (even though that cheaper brand was advertised as being 4X), and some of those DVD's won't play on one of my older players. I highly recommend these DVD+R's especially when you consider the price.
Rating: Summary: No Coasters with NEC 1300A and NEC 1100A Review: Perfect burn everytime using Nero 5.5
Rating: Summary: Highly recommended! Review: After 250+ successful discs burnt with Memorex's DVD+R on a Sony DRX510UL (also sold on Amazon.com), I have no complaints... although I'd like to see some form of TDK's "Armor Plating" technology for DVDs used with the Memorex brand. Memorex makes an outstanding product. These Memorex DVD+R discs are highly recommended for their quality manufacturing.
Rating: Summary: Don't buy these, Buy TDK Review: I bought 1-25 packs of these from amazon because of the excellent price. The first 25 burnt without any errors. I went ahead and ordered 2 more packs of 25. I had about 15 bad disks. I might have got a defective lot. I filled out the media replacement form at the memorex web site, waiting to here back from them. Yes I also worry as to how long the data would last on the ones which did not have any errors recording.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Media!! Review: I'm Using a Sony DRU510A to burn these media and works perfect. I managed to copy dvds, data, music and everything was copied without errors and very fast.
Rating: Summary: My disc failures NOT RELATED to this media Review: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................These Memorex discs have been great for my recording needs. I would say that of the discs that weren't killed by hardware failures that I have 100 from my Philips recorders with between 1.25 and 1.75 hours and the rest almost to full capacity. I still have ample room on the full discs to change index pictures, add chapters, etc, all of which take up additional disc space. With the Memorex, I feel fairly confident that I can do this without killing a disc. Wish I could say the same about several other brands I've tried. Fill up some with 1:58:37 of programming and then suffer killer Disc Errors when trying to add the above sort of indexing features/enhancements. (K-Hypermedia's DVD+Rs are a real culprit as are Samsung's BeAll DVDs for this sort of problem.) I can't speak for their use in other recorders (or to their -R discs) but I have enjoyed using the Memorex +Rs and will continue to do so.......................................................................................................................................................................................................
Rating: Summary: Formatting problems Review: When a disc fails to format on a drive, the cause is usually that the drive does not have the correct firmware but there can be many other, temporary causes. Try rebooting the system to clear temporary memory, then quick erase the disc and try formatting again. Unless a user does this, each subsequent disc may also fail to format. That's why some people have one failure after another but blame the discs even though they are not at fault. The Sony DRU-510 firmware 1.0d is compatible with Memorex DVD+RW discs, and the disc quality is very good to excellent.
